Looking back, the entire Death Note anime is literally just Light going "I am a genius!" "Oh no!" until he gets caught.

I’m not sure if this was intended, but I think this kinda foreshadows Light’s failure at the end of the series. He assumes he has won because he solved the 3 pictures he knew about, but actually failed when presented with the 4th one. This is like how Light assumed he had won in episode 25, but didn’t know that Near and Mello existed, who were the real cause of his downfall. Light’s flaw is that he lets his guard down when he thinks he wins.

This moment is one where Light subtly indicated that he was Kira.

Light got the message right. L was just trying to get a reaction out of him by presenting him with a 4th image.

If L didn't believe Light was Kira beforehand, he wouldn't have presented him with the 4th image. He fabricated the 4th image specifically to get Light to counteract and be argumentative to understand/verify Kira's actual motive.

L's too good. Bro was lying about that 3% suspicion rate, that was more like 97% 🤣.

This is exactly where L knew that Light is kira, everything after this in the story is just L messing with Kira

My personal theory is that this is the moment that Light confirmed himself as Kira, from now on L is just trying to prove it. And when Light loses his memory L pretty much says point blank that Light was Kira. In L's mind there is no doubt he just can't prove it in court of law and has no idea what the rules of the death note are.

I love scenes like this because it directly proves that Light isnt nearly as smart as he likes to think he is

"He never failed to meet my challenges head on", or something like that was said when L first showed his face and when you look back at all the times L and Light talked or competed, he never hesitated one bit to meet Ls challenges head on and right then and there he started to know Light was Kira.

This line alone would have thrown off so much suspicion. A detective would definitely ask follow up questions before coming to a conclusion. Lights insistence of there being only 3 only makes sense if he knew there were only three.

And this is why L is one of my favorite characters of all time- Also, the last thing Light says is literally what he said he'd try to get a criminal to do-
This reminds me of a question used with suspects often in actual interrogations. It goes something along the lines of "If you could sentence someone for this crime, what punishment would you give them?" People who are guilty are more likely to give a vague response, or one that isn't as severe, whereas someone who's innocent is more likely to give a reply with a stronger opinion.
Both of these questions are used in the same way, even though they will get different answers.

I remember being a kid watching this series and loving the direct/non-direct interactions between characters thinking Light was so smart. Now that I’m older I realized L always knew Light was Kira all along, he just needed definitive proof to convict him.

This was a pivotal moment in L’s suspicion for Light. Scariest moment in the show. Tension was so strong I could cut it with a knife.

"Like you just tried to do with me" is the damning sentence Light says that follows this scene, just after this clip ends.

This is a confession that he knows he's being tricked, after admitting that he was "wrong." He can't possibly know he's being tricked unless he already knows the 4th photograph is fake, after just confessing that he made a "mistake" by assuming there are only 3 real ones.

interesting the last note that L made up is about having red hands. Considering that this “deductive test” exposed Light, you could say that he was caught “red-handed” by L. L is basically taunting Kira saying “I know you’re Kira and I just caught you red-handed”
