Picking the option that does 2x damage against most things in a childrens video game where you are constantly overleveled and you'll onehit everything.

Sapphire was my first game, and the Mudkip line was my first starter. I'll always hold fond memories of steamrolling my way through Hoenn with Swampert.

I make a case. Yes, it has the best type, but I think that water types are easy to find early game, which is why I choose fire, one of the rarest type.

Torchic does get type effective moves by level up for most of the first three gym leaders. Double Kick for the rock gym, peck for the fighting gym and fire moves for the many steel types the electric gym uses

Torchic was a solid option, finding a ground and grass type pokemon are easy in the early game.
Choosing mudkip and May keeps beating my whole team with her Grovyle. Back then it was a nightmare.
