It's hard to correct without coming off as holier than thou sometimes. But we have to ask God for guidance and try and be as constructive as possible

My father always said, "If you are not full of tears and sadness for a fellow Christian who has fallen into sin... You have no business ever opening up your mouth to bring a word of correction"! Humility/anguish and a passion for your brother or sister to escape the sin and destruction always accompany a Godly Correction.

If you see your brother or sister in Christ sin. Lovingly correct him/her in a spirit of restoration.

Some wise words and a helpful reminder. People on social media (especially Twitter and YouTube) need to hear this.

I think for the most part if I’m slow to speak and quick to listen that will be key.
It’s hard to sin if my mouth is closed. Don’t want to be a clanging symbol

I went to a church leader to confess some issues in my marriage and went there with an open and honest heart. By the time we were half way in - I was called a liar because I used a word in its most common meaning instead of some new meaning that apparently is now in vogue. Then, when I stated that one cannot be called a liar over a difference of opinion on a definition... the counselor called me an arrogant jerk. I went there to own up to my behavior. I left there having to wrestle with forgiving the counselor. Some people just are not cut out to be pastors.

Someone who is hellbent on believing a false doctrine will always insist that anyone who tries to correct them is being judgmental.

With all brotherly love, Pastor John is conflating two issues: correcting sin and judging one another based on spiritual growth. Sin is nowhere in the context of Romans 14-15, but rather spiritual habits, practices, and convictions. Judgment is not to be passed because someone else thinks they shouldn't eat meat sacrificed to idols (for example), otherwise it then becomes sin.

However, sin *is* to be judged by believers in an assembly sometimes even breaking relationship, as in 1 Cor 5:12-13. Paul here literally quotes the frequent refrain from the Mosaic Law: "purge the evil from among yourselves". Also as Jesus taught in Matthew 18:15-20, a passage often taken out of context to justify spiritual warfare against demons; but which is clearly about dealing with brethren sinning against each other. This passage starkly contradicts Pastor John, because sometimes we do treat a brother as an unbeliever when they will not repent of their sin against another.

Concerning the tone and method of correction, sometimes (not always, but yes sometimes!) it is to be delivered sharply, as in 2 Cor 13:2 and Titus 1:13. And heresy is always to be opposed vigorously, as in Gal 5:12 and Phil 3:2.

Doing something in love doesn't mean soft pedaling.

Remember if we dont pray so that the "BROther" can hear the voice of God and not ours we wont get the outcome God has established. There is roo. For growth, unlike flesh.

One's moral conduct towards a brother is inescapable in the eyes of God, acting just to expect and receive the same is the correct way.

- There are right and wrong ways to correct fellow Christians, emphasizing the importance of brotherly love in correction.
- Romans 14:13 urges not to judge or put stumbling blocks before brothers.
- Pastor John explains this concept, highlighting 2 meanings of the passage.
- The first meaning is to correct with affectionate brotherhood, avoiding criticism without love.
- The second meaning is to avoid treating fellow believers as unbelievers, refraining from scornful or disdainful attitudes.

Ugh. This is hard. It really gets my goat to see brothers and sisters led astray by these false “profits” in the new apostolic reformation heresy. I have such anger towards them.
