The rotator cuff is made up of 4 muscles. All 4 are always active to some extent (like all the muscles in our body), but this exercise will primarily target the two external rotator cuff muscles: the infraspinatus and the teres minor.

You can see them where the arrows are pointing.
People often lack strength in their external rotation of the shoulder (rotating the arm outward like in the video). So, working this exercise into your warm-ups will be a solid way to get you ready for any pushing, pulling, and overhead exercises.

I have hypermobility (hEDS) and injured my left shoulder 3 years ago. I did PT for some time but ultimately it’s rotator cuff tendonitis. This is very helpful. Thanks!
