❤️ Join this channel to get access to perks and support Post Stroke:

For those survivors who have little to no active movement in their affected side, my other exercise videos may be too much. In this video, I walk you through 5 weight-bearing exercises that can be done seated and that address both arms and legs.

Weight-bearing exercises can be very helpful to improve strength, temporarily reduce high muscle tone and spasticity, improve bone density and provide proprioceptive input to our joints, muscles, and tendons (so we better know where our body is in space).

What You’ll Need:
A bed or couch to sit on
A sturdy surface to hang on to
Someone else to help, if you’re unstable sitting upright
A pillow
Willingness to work out with me!

I live on Saint Croix US Virgin and I live alone and you have been an inspiration for me because I have been very dark places mentally and somehow you seem to help me pull out of the darkness. I find great motivation and your YouTube channel helps me achieve some semblance of normalcy. I suffer a great fatigue and So it is hard but your channel helps me get motivated. We have no services here so your YouTube channel is so helpful I get therapy three times a week but it’s not as helpful as your YouTube channel sometimes I feel the people are overworked and just going through a routine

Thank you. . My wife is right side deficit due to her recent stroke. I found these informative and will help my wife do them. Can you also provide therapy that helps people to get back long term and permanent use of their hands, feet, speech.

My husband recently had a left-brain stroke and has no function in his right arm and leg in addition to no speech. Spending 7 weeks in the hospital with complications, he had no therapy and lost critical recovery time. He was in acute rehab for 19 days and started making some progress with one hour each of PT, OT, and SLP 6 days a week. He is now in short-term rehab and not receiving enough PT, OT, and SLP on a consistent basis and I fear that he is going to lose ground on his gains. I found this video very helpful and will try to work with him when visiting him are the rehab. Thank you for sharing this video. These techniques are used at Spaulding Rehab in Boston as I saw during family training. I can use this video with my husband to help him.

Awesome! Why didn't therapists these last months not give my niece? I was telling her to put weight on her affected leg but this baby step hopefully should do the trick to help her get use to doing that. Thank you for posting!
