I lost my wife 26 days ago. It's the worst hurt I've EVER felt. I still can't believe she's not here anymore.

I lost my husband of 64 years . Sitting on the sofa and watching a movie together ..he turns to me and was trying to speak . He looked into my eyes and said Connie i love u so much and u.have made me very happy for all those years. I kissed him and he slump ed over me and passed. I could n believe what had happened it came rather quickly .death waits for no one . iam so sad and everday.i try to go on and cry where i can hardly see through my tears .

As a person who lost a spouse of 34 years I found flaws in this discussion. It seemed the answers and advice were very trite. Anyone who is grieving knows that grief doesn’t disappear after any specific time. It’s like a tide, it ebbs and flows. What is most difficult for older persons who are widowed is that you don’t have the same social interactions and ability to blend in with others as younger widows/widowers do. As a senior you are much more likely to be isolated. Even if you had a strong social life suddenly you’re the “odd one out”. It feels odd to be in social situations where everyone else has a partner. That wasn’t mentioned at all in this video.

My Husband died 4 months ago and my Doctor thinks I should be ok. After 45 years I can’t understand this. I don’t know about the stages of grief I just know I’m getting worse. I’m not angry, never bargained, I’m just lost and lonely.

I lost my wife to cancer a year ago (Oct 31, 2022). In this past year, I have learned a lot about grief--most of it firsthand, and this guy, Paul Hill, is a perfect example of what so many of us have experienced: academics who really don't know what they're talking about when it comes to grief. His answer to the question of, how long does grief last (3:30) is completely wrong. When you lose your spouse, that grief will last the rest of your life! You don't "move on" or "get over it." You simply get to the point where you have more good days than bad. This is why there are so few good, qualified grief therapists out there. Most of them learned from guys like this.

My husband passed 2 years ago and I am still in deep grief. I don't think anyone can put a time limit on it. Grief and pain come from their loss but also from your struggles afterward financially, and just going forward.

16 weeks ago I was unexpectedly widowed after a short illness at age 62. We were together 37 years. Grief softens but never goes away.

I lost my spouse of 41 years (36 of them married). she lost her battle with cancer 7 years ago. I still cannot get any inner comfort or happiness, even though I have more than enough of the most important thing is missing....and no matter what everyone says, I live in a dazed mood! I cannot get to grips with this.

After 60yearsof marriage it’s being left alone that’s hard to be without your spouse I’m not getting over it even after 7years. Now I’m 85yrs old and my health is going down. Which makes it even worse we were always there for each other. Now I’m so alone my kids are there but it’s not the same they have their own problems. I can only pray And I do.
