Here is the sixth video in our Indigenous Mental Health series, voiced by Jasmine Peterson, Psychological Associate at Sullivan + Associates Clinical Psychology and a woman of Indigenous descent.

In this video, Jasmine discusses grief and loss for Indigenous people and communities.

Indigenous communities have had higher rates of mortality, and many communities experience loss so frequently that it is challenging to work through the grieving process as it is almost constant.

Moreover, the losses experienced by Indigenous people are often associated with tragedy, such as the recent uncovering of unmarked burial sites at residential schools.

Today's video provides information about grief and loss and strategies to help manage these feelings.
