In this video, we explore the stark differences between Russian and U.S. soldiers, diving deep into their training, equipment, and effectiveness in combat. With Russia struggling to gain ground in Ukraine despite having a larger army, we’ll analyze why their conscripts and contract soldiers fall short compared to the highly trained, professional U.S. troops. From the structure of basic training to the equipment used on the battlefield, we’ll uncover how Russia’s military system is proving outdated and ineffective.

As a former American soldier I can say we have real equipment and real training and our officers don't believe in meatgrinder tactics

You don't mention a word about how pathetically corrupt to the core Russian military is.

As a retired US Marine Intelligence Officer, I spent 20 years studying the former Soviet Union and Russian military. I predicted at the beginning of the Russo-Ukraine war, Russia would NOT take Ukraine in the 3 days/two weeks Russia stated, and the only way it could actually win would be if the Russians used nukes. This was based on a couple of things covered in this video: 1. The Ukrainian military had adopted and was using Western military tactics after 2014, allowing NCOs to do their job; and the Ukrainians despise Russia. 2. Even the 'professional' Russian army lacked a professional NCO corps and Russian junior officers are nothing more than baby-sitters, which makes on-the-spot decision-making impossible. In 4 months it will be 3 years and the Russians effectively lost the war at the end of 2022. Semper Fidelis! Non Sibi Sed Patriae! CWO4 USMCR [Ret] 17 February 1969 - 1 August 2004

US Soldiers: Steady salary, many opportunities for promotion, adequate and frequent training, free lodging and health care, people appreciate your service and 3 square meals a day. It’s not a bad life.

Russian Soldiers: You’re fed? 😮

The US Military is a logistics company that occasionally engages in warfare. Its ability to transport personnel and equipment over long distances, along with its exceptional NCO corps, sets it apart from others.

*Russian soldier:* What's the difference between you and me?
*American soldier:* I'm not wearing hockey pads!

As a US soldier, I was taught to NEVER leave a battle buddy behind. In fact when I was in AIT at Fort Huachuca for intelligence school, for the entirety of my time there I could go nowhere in uniform without my battle buddy(anyone else who was in uniform). AIT for me was an intense(60% drop out) 6 months time. We would run 5 miles 3x/week(at about 5, 000 feet) and twice a week we would do push-ups and various other calisthenics. I was a reservist called to active duty in October 2002. As someone who was used to backfill for other units, there were some issues with continuity. This was my personal experience.
Overall, I would say that the biggest difference personnel wise is the NCO corps. These are the guys who were in charge of training soldiers. This and the ability to think outside the box(adapt & overcome) in Army parlance are the two main advantages that the US Army has over our Russian and PLA counterparts. Both of these take years and years to develop.

Russia isnt a professional military. You can end the comparison there.

And as a former U.S. Army artillery officer, I will say Ukrainians have demonstrated one thing in particular. The nature of warfare has fundamentally changed with the use of surveillance drones and so-called suicide drones. Once AI is fully incorporated into these economical delivery systems (low level swarm attacks), the battle space is going to be exceedingly difficult to survive in (much more so than it is already) - to include rear supply depots and staging areas, perhaps even the manufacturing factories themselves. That’s likely the historical, long term “take away” from this Russo-Ukrainian war. 👈 🇷🇺🇺🇦

The biggest difference is that US troops use combined arms tactics. Russia can't even combine mech+artillery.

Might as well compare Warhammer 40k Ultramarines to North Korean soldiers.

Average American soldier fires a few hundred rounds during basic training. Average Russian conscript today fires less than a dozen.

I was a Soldier in a British Armoured Regiment for 22Yrs. Our ‘full time enemy’ was always the Russians. We were very confident in our abilities compared to them. Our only real concern was running out of ammunition in such a target rich environment 😊
