Not to be rude but NATO stands for the “North Atlantic Treaty Organization” not “North American Treaty Organization”

My grandfather was 16 when WW2 ended. I'm sure he wanted to fight, but wasn't quite old enough. He did enlist in the Army in '48 and served in the Korean War. He'd tell my dad story after story after story of his 13 months there. He passed in the late 80s and my dad's still heartbroken to this day. Every day I thank him for his service and find comfort knowing that he's doing well in a better place.

While the US Soldiers were stationed in germany they were our best neighbours and held and brought the neighbourhood together. Really grateful that i have had the possibility to grow up with their children and learning a lot about american culture.

I have two very good friends buried in Arlington Virginia. We knew each other from kindergarten all the way through high school graduation. They enlisted after that and both died from the same roadside bomb in Iraq. If it weren’t for the Army finding a crooked spine I most likely would’ve died with them. It took a very long time but I realized I lived to tell their story.

My late father served in the Korean war for the navy. And worked for the army as a mechanic later in his life.

Prior to DHS, the USCG was under the Department ofTransportation. There is a stipulation that, in wartime the USCG can be activated as a component of the Navy. However, at no point in it's history has the USCG ever been part of the DOD.

My grandpa fought in WWll. He fought in the pacific, fought in the Philippines when US took it back, and he fought in Okinawa. He got injured by grenade shrapnel on Okinawa. His best friend was the one who took most of the shrapnel from the grenade and died from his wounds.

I had a family member long, long ago who fought in the civil war. His name was Nolan Einrick Myers. He was a German immigrant, who after the war got land in Illinois, which my family owns to this day. I do not personally live on the farm. It's neat to hear about it in the video.

It's disgusting, sad and pathetic that it's not required to be have served in the military To be able to be run for, and hold ANY federal level leadership. Congress, President etc....

There is at least 1 SS soldier buried in Arlington with full honours.
Soldier of the 3 armies Lauri "Allan Thorne" Törni.

I truly hope read the words "Afghanistan fiasco" at least in a few comments.

A better example of NATO vs NATO would be a hypothetical Greece vs Turkey fight. These 2 countries are...not exactly fond of each other.

My father served in Vietnam, my brother in the Gulf War and myself in the War on terror.
What is weird is before we were born my Dad did a 3 week plus mission in Vietnam and when they came back he fell asleep in a tent for almost a day. When he woke up the tent was destroyed and everyone else was dead from a grenade but he was unharmed which shocked himself and the troops doing clean up.
He also got a Purple heart by getting shot thru the leg saving a soldier like how Forrest tried to save Bubba.
