Does Walking After Eating Actually Work?

Some people like to walk especially after a large meal, thinking that it helps with digestion. There is, in fact, some truth to this belief. Studies have found that walking or doing light activity right after a meal helps with weight loss compared to waiting for an hour or not doing anything at all. Blood sugar tends to shoot up right after a meal and walking prevents insulin hypersecretion which in turn reduces storage of fat.

You can even do some squats or similar exercises right after eating so that your muscles can use the elevated sugars in your system, just don't push yourself too much.

Thank you for addressing the fact that squats or pushups may be even better than walking after a meal. I can’t seem to find any answers on this. Everyone says to walk after a meal, but I like to run or do hiit training. Is it better to walk? I would think that high intensity workouts would be even better but I am so confused

I'm still confused with this information as some doctor said its better to wait 30 minutes to 1 hour after meals before exercising or walking.
