Walk off the pounds during the holidays! This 10 minute After Eating Walking Workout will lower blood sugar quickly while improving your cardiovascular health, balance, and endurance. This exercise to lower blood sugar features alternating 30 second intervals of fun walking exercises that engage your upper and lower body with 20 second intervals of classic walking. This workout can be done seated or standing. You’ll get in about 1200 steps with this exercise for seniors over 60, more or less depending on your pace.

This workout features 4 exercises in 30 second rounds each done twice:
✳️ 1-2-3 step/Grapevine
✳️ Step Forward and Back
✳️ Triple Step Outs
✳️ Step Out with Hammer Curls

Estimated calorie burn for:
🔥 120 lb (54.4 kg): 32-35 calories
🔥 200 lb (90.7 kg) person: 53-58 calories

Experts say that even two to five minutes of movement can have a significant impact on lowering blood sugar. The length of time you should wait before exercising varies by activity and individual. It’s best to take action as soon as you can after eating since blood sugar levels spike 60 to 90 minutes after eating. You may have to experiment to find your ideal digestion period. 1-3 hours after eating is recommended for moderate to high intensity exercise. But it is fine to do gentle walking like this walk shortly after eating. Listen to your body and walk when you feel comfortable.

Thanks so much for this video. I have type 2 diabetes but am not on meds. I also suffer from Fibromyalgia and am in constant pain. This workout was brilliant for me and very manageable - just the right speed and length of time for me to cope with. I will be doing this 3 times a day after each meal. I know I can do it.

It’s interesting how I found this video a few days back. I had just started to move a little after dinner to keep blood sugar in check…..so I used one of your other 10 mins walking video. And couple of days after you released this to lower blood sugar level after meals. It’s like you read my mind lol. Thanks so much ❤

This is just what I needed! After dinner I would usually just sit and put my feet up. No I will say to myself, not so fast! A 10 minute movement video first. It’s not to strenuous, and you two are so pleasant and easy going! I want to empower myself to be healthier, especially as I am diabetic. It runs in my maternal family. I have made many changes over the last 7 years. I eat a WFPB diet, no oils. I read Dr. Mcgreggor’s book How Not To Die! I volunteered to give up my car and be a full time pedestrian. It’s doable because I live in a small city. I never liked exercise. Walking seemed productive and enjoyable. I enjoy listening to audiobooks while I am walking. I enjoy your videos for strength training and cardio! Thank you both 🙏🏼

This is awesome.I started out doing the seated Walking. It lasted 3 weeks. Now I'm standing doing the exercises. I do push myself, so I have to slow down. I'm So Happy!! Thank You❤️

Aside from this being a great way to do some moving around after eating, because it's a low intensity routine, it's great on those days when you're feeling dragged out, or tired due to a bad night's sleep. It's a gentle energizer! Really nice routine which can be done any time. I loved Aiko's enthusiasm, too! Thank you, April, for more imaginative workout ideas!...Anastasia

I do this workout every evening after we have dinner. Absolutely love it! I will sometimes add the 5 min. HIIT work out after it.
