To help prevent injuring your shoulders keep your shoulder blades pressed downward during the entire movement. Do not shrug your shoulders in any way during this exercise and be cautious going too deep with this movement.

This should be the staple of everyone's chest workout instead of flat bench and like he said dips are the upper body squat. The flat press is the most overrated lift ever. I haven't done flat bench in maybe 7 years and don't miss it at all.
