The VERY BEST Songs Of 1963

In this video you'll find my favorite songs of 1963. Of course I wasn't part of this earth at that time so all the songs in the video are tracks I discovered years later. In the upcoming weeks I'm trying to continue my VERY BEST Series with all the years from the 60s.

1963 was a year of major events: Of course there was the assasination of US president John F. Kennedy in Dallas. Also in 1963 the Civil Rights Movement culminated with one of the most famous speeches: "I have a Dream" by the late great Martin Luther King Jr. From a music perspective 1963 is considered "the year Girls Group broke" - when so many all female groups reached the charts.

Disclaimer: Some songs might be released at the end of 1962 so I took the creative liberty to put them in this video as it would be more in line with how charts were at that time. Remember: Even if a song was released then it might have taken some time to chart and especially if it was a song from overseas. Songs that I already used in my Best Of 1964 however weren't eligible.

Videofootage might not be from the 60s but from a later date. Sometimes it was impossible to find footage from that time so I had to improvise a bit.

What are your favorites of 1963? What do you remember? Do you think it was a good year for popular music? Missed any songs? You can write in the comments and discuss this ranking but please keep it civil. Thank you!

No Copyright infringement intended. You can buy all these songs in full length in your favorite store. No money are made of this videos, just a hobby to celebrate music.

Boy! Did this music walk me back 60 years when I was just16. It funny, I did not think much of Roy Orbison song "In Dreams" until a lady I loved very much died last year in 2023-- And the song took new significance in my life, 60 years later!

Two glaring omissions are "LOUIE LOUIE" by The Kingsmen - and "SURF CITY" by Jan & Dean. But, overall, a real fine effort!

I was surprised by how many songs I remembered as I was quite young in 1963, although I clearly remember the tragedy from November of that year!

I like how you even included non-English songs in this list and I had no idea Connie Francis recorded a song in German. I also like how you included Wipeout
