In this video you'll find my favorite songs of 1977. Now we have entered the time when synthesizers started to make their presence known to the world. Also a Spanish duo, discovered by Germans during a vacation conquered most of Europe. And another classic and all-time-favorite of mine is at #1.

Disclaimer: Some songs might be released in 1976 at the end of the year so I took the creative freedom to put them there as it would be more in line with how charts were at that time. Remember: Even if a song was released then it might have taken some time to chart and especially if it was a song from overseas.

What are your favorites of 1977? What do you remember? Do you think it was a good year for popular music? Missed any songs? You can write in the comments and discuss this ranking but please keep it civil. Thank you!

I was living in the USSR at the time and listened to this music at night on the radio, and was willing to give years of my life to see them with my own eyes.

I was just 14 years old in 1977 at school in Cheltenham and believe the 1970s were the best time to grow up as a kid. We didn't have stress like kids have today. Life was so much laid back and simpler back then I think that 1977was one of best 70s years for music.

Loved Barclay James Harvest. My favorite song was Sea of tranquility. And the 2 ABBA songs are among their best.

I was living in London in 1977 so I remember a lot of these songs. I would have included “Cool Out Tonight” by David Essex in this group of songs, too, as it did quite well in the charts in late 1977. Also “In The City” by the Jam, “Peaches” by The Stranglers, and “Allison” by Elvis Costello. I wasn’t a huge punk fan but it was certainly a huge improvement over disco which I loathed. And all those songs did well on the charts, too.

0:13 Fun Fact, I found a compilation what couldn't include this version, but could get the 1950's original version.

Muito, muito difícil, 1977, muitas bandas pelo mundo, poderíamos fazer Top 500 sempre iríamos fazer injustiça com alguém.
