The VERY BEST Songs Of 1976

In this video you'll find my favorite songs of 1976. Still sparse memories from that timeframe but of course I do remember one of the biggest group that came from Germany during that era, my father even had a few singles of them, even though he was mostly a Schlager-fan. Also: This video finds probably my hardest decision which song to put on #1 and which on #2 because I absolutely adore both of them to the highest degree so they are more a 1a and 1b. Which one do you like most?

Disclaimer: Some songs might be released in 1975 at the end of the year so I took the creative freedom to put them there as it would be more in line with how charts were at that time. Remember: Even if a song was released then it might have taken some time to chart and especially if it was a song from overseas. One song was re-released in 1976 and I put it there because then it became internationally famous.

What are your favorites of 1976? What do you remember? Do you think it was a good year for popular music? Missed any songs? You can write in the comments and discuss this ranking but please keep it civil. Thank you!

Two of my favorite songs of all time in 1976, Stargazer and More than a Feeling. What a year.

Copyright owners get all precious about their recordings, and it's a pity that you've needed to splash annotation & blank rectangles over 30% of the screen to calm them down. The AC/DC audio was obviously censored. These guys would do themselves a favour by treating your review as a free promotion. What length of "sample" exceeds the limit of "fair use" as a "review" under copyright law?

Switch the ABBA songs and I will not complain! Dancing Queen was a beast in the USA!

You may not want anything but US and UK but It was impossible to escape ABBA in Europe in 76.

The song #41, "Charlie Brown", is actually a version of a Brazilian song, written by Benito Di Paula and released 1974. Even I noticed that there wasn't any Brazilian song or artist in these charts. At least it could have "Feelings", by Morris Albert, that was released also 1974.

The apex of the American Renaissance was 1972...and what a steep descent into this mound of... sporadic...at times it's painful.

Sad list, when the so-called #1 I've never heard of and kinda wish I'd never heard of NOW.
Calling Fernando "#1b" I can live with - IMO Abba's best song.
But I'd put "Year of the Cat" and "Stargazer" a LOT higher - though "On The Border" I consider a superior song to "...Cat".

Better leave this without further comment.

Creativity didn't fly high during 1976. Most of it sounds derivative.
