Great line

I have never heard a more nervous caller calling into this show! My heart goes out to him!

$15k for a life of back pain???? Crazy low number imo. They’re laughing at a small 15k. Smh. Good luck man.

He's just somewhat unlucky. Good thing he has a good family. Blessings to this guy! He needs a job where he can work on computer from home

This guy is scared to pay off his debt even though he have the money to pay it off in full because he's scared he's not going to have any income/safety net due to his back injury.
He took out a loan, he used it, so he needs to have integrity and pay it back.

I’m confused by this caller.
He took out a $8k loan to buy a car and he got injured and got a settlement check.
I’m not exactly what he wants or is asking.
He says he’s going back to school. I agree with Dave he needs to create an income.

If this young man has a decent vehicle, Lyft and/or Uber is almost always available.

Yo cuz Im almost 50, I’ve had three epidurals into my spine, while awake - and hang upside down like grampa munster every few days - up at 4am every day and push through it. Welcome to LIFE….

For the income, if he needs to sit then maybe ride sharing or working at ALDIs would be good. If he doesn’t have transportation (don’t know what happened to the dream car) then maybe he can work remotely even just part-time to start getting some money back in the door.

I’m not sure what the rationale is for not paying off debts when you have the money. Is it fun? No. Is it the right thing to do? Yes. Is it the best thing for your long-term finances? Yes

He talked about his mother more than he talked about himself lol.

I have back pain every day and it hasn't stopped me from working. Sounds like you don't want to work and just like most Americans, you want something for nothing. Dude you are good enough to call into Dave. Maybe consider getting a job calling people on the phone. You did a great JOB!

His mother was getting him to not pay the debt at all. Bad advise. He needs to be accountable for it and pay it.

Honestly I think he could find a job working from home. Use the 1/2 of the check or cash it to pay some of your debt off and keep some of it for a cushion until you can find a job and get income coming in.but before u deposit call All the debt placed first to get a payment plan

This caller could have special needs or a low IQ, hence his mother being involved in his finances. Many adults need that extra help and that's OK. Kudos to him for seeking advice.

I understand him living with his mom to continue with rehabbing his back, but why is his mom involved with trying to settle his debts??!! The CC companies shouldn't even be taking phone calls from her unless she's a co-borrower or co-signer.

An office job for example. Having debt with an injury is a dangerous combination

Hurt or not, disability or not most can work. Not saying police, military or construction worker. You can deliver food, drive people around, be a security guard.

Don't send a personal check. Usee cashier's check or money order. Personal check gives them access to your account.

Pay to delete removes it from credit report.
