My brother's wife died suddenly. When he started going to the school meetings and things someone actually said " you're nothing like your wife described you" . He was fired for missing too much to be with the kids more. He had to get a different job for less money so he had time to be home more.

When we separated my wife started gate keeping my daughter and I almost never saw her. Then one morning my doorbell rings and my daughter was standing there in tears with all her stuff in bags. I guess mom was tired of parenting and complained of having to be a “single parent” for a year. Well I told her I was a single parent for 12 years except I had two kids, her and my daughter. Since my daughter was toddler I have been the primary care giver as well as doing most of the work around the home. All while working full time plus. Mom dabbles in work from time to time. So my child is with me full time now, and it’s just me. I have my own consulting practice so I work from home and am home to take her to school, pick her up, do homework, cook meals and just be a parent. Thirty days? You underestimate The Dad. I’m very fortunate. Some single dads don’t have the luxury of working from home. Hats off to you. Stay strong my brothers.
