In this YouTube video you will learn how to release emotions trapped in your body caused by childhood trauma. Emotional triggers cause us to become emotionally dysregulated, and so, therefore, learning how to release emotions trapped in the body can help you heal and break free from the past.

If you are the adult child of an alcoholic or narcissistic parent, your inner child grew up feeling abandoned, rejected, invisible, dismissed, and irrelevant. This can cause a child's subconscious mind to develop faulty beliefs about one's sense of self-worth. Children born in dysfunctional and toxic homes are forced to suppress, deny, and repress their emotions for the sake of survival. If you are raised to deny your emotions, then you are forced to suppress them in the body.

In this video, you will learn how to release emotions trapped in your body by learning to regulate your emotions by elevating your consciousness around why any of us would struggle to regulate our emotions. Honoring how you feel is one of the first steps you can take to learn how to release and regulate emotions trapped in your body. Learning how the body stores negative emotions can empower you with the hope to heal your life despite a painful past.

Some quick tips:

Become aware of how you are feeling.
Observe how your nervous system is responding.
Call out the physical sensations.
Feel and accept what is coming up for you...sit with your emotions.
Remind yourself that you are not your emotions.
Remind yourself that you are safe.
Focus on your breath and begin deep breathing.
Who, what, when, how...ask yourself how this experience is tied to the past.
Do not allow habitual thinking and feeling from the past to control you.
Do not resist what you feel.

Just finished watching a doco about a religious cult and it made me really uptight and anxious and I observed to realise the cult leader reminded me of my stepfathers behaviour and my non validating mum. Thanks Lisa for sharing these steps, they are going to be helpful in my growth

Emotion is energy in motion. The reason we keep experiencing the same situations and traumatic patterns is down to suppression. We live in an emotional fedback system. So regulating these emotions is a good start. To really and trully fully release we need to experience the emotions in full including rage anxiety fear so that we do not feel them again. Once they are felt fullybthey do not keep returning 🎉🎉

You don’t just sit with the fear or rage but you breathe into the overwhelming emotion & notice your breath as you simply breathe in… then release the breath with control & count as you do this as you’re in a deliberate focus on it as an all encompassing activity… nothing else is more important than gaining control over that breath & little by little you’ll realize that you are now in control

Thank you for your dedication to first helping yourself and others in the process. Just started on this journey of healing self-awareness, making the unconscious conscious after 53 years frustrating myself, anyone around me started therapy 3 weeks ago. Wow - this was epic-rich in content & healing resources!! When u say not to be afraid of the darkness/ghosts but embrace them, can this also be applied to the fear of the harm that old narc frenemies can still do to me? The fear of my reaction ever crossing paths w/ppl I decided to quietly cut off? The rumination (& ensuing rage) of the years of giving away my personal power/voice & freedom? (combination of watching Lisa's YT videos & making a dent in the 12WBP is keeping me busy!! ) I hope I breakthrough soon!! 🙏

I have been triggered, I know what happened in the past, I survived rape, incest, physical and mental torture. When. I am triggered rage comes up. I have been making some progress but I recently lost it because of so much stress I had to be admitted to the psych hospital. Several men were inappropriate with me and I just snapped. I lost my car and I decided to move due to living in a very unhealthy place. I need trauma therapy.

I have never been so embarrassed humiliated mortified and traumatised in my life that it effected my whole body I was so angry and full of hate that I had headaches heart beating fast gritted teeth fist clenched isolated myself I felt a total invasion of privacy I felt completely like I was standing there naked in front of everyone it effected my gut I was so scared that I had diarrhea couldn't stop crying it's done with now no longer a fret but it's still on my mind so angry one minute and crying the next

I'm a crier. Is this why the tears come when I feel under attack? Then, the tears trigger embarrassment, which adds another layer and distracts my brain from thinking clearly. 😢😮
This reaction happens when I'm dealing with controlling "leadership" in the workplace. I've been experiencing heart palpitations for 5 days, which is rare. I do know that I have to protect my inner child and myself from the daily stress of being narcissistic supply. Working on an exit strategy after 15 years.
