Hey Mattia. I’m 14 and currently know English and Spanish. I’m taking mandarin in Highschool and plan to self learn Italian. I want to study 1-2 hours a day. Italian is very similar to Spanish. I can even understand basic sentences. Grammar rules and pronunciation is very similar to Spanish as well. I believe that this experience will be a breeze. So back to what I was saying earlier, if I study for 1-2 hours a day. Can I be somewhat fluent in Italian in 4-6 months?

Imparare una lingua non è né uno sprint né una maratona perché non esiste una precisa linea del traguardo, neanche per un madrelingua. Sono madrelingua inglese e quando apro il dizionario inglese a qualsiasi pagina, trovo sempre nuove parole da imparare. Ho 59 anni e il mio inglese è ancora in evoluzione. Mio padre diceva, “La vita non è una gara. È un viaggio.” È così con l’apprendimento di una nuova lingua. Ogni nuova parola è come un solo passo in un lungo viaggio. Non c’è fretta. Dovremmo rilassarci e goderci il passaggio.

Stimo che il tempo necessario per raggiungere la fluidità sia: un'ora di studio = 0, 1% di fluidità. Quindi, 1.000 ore di studio (input più grammatica, ecc.) = 100 % = fluidità. Studio l'italiano da ottobre; 2 ore al giorno per 143 giorni. Stimo di essere al 28, 6% di fluidità. Non male, ma la strada è ancora lunga!

This is very optimistic, unfortunately. You can't get to advanced level in 6 months unless you are a genius.
Also I guess general proficiency means more like solid intermediate level b2, rather than advanced which you get after 2 or 3 years of very rigorous study.
