I appreciate your advice. I finally (after 7 weeks) started at the physical therapist. Message, electrical stimulation, 60 minutes of stretching & exercises to make the area stronger. Sorry I waited so long, but I'm on the road to recovery.

I pulled my left hammy, now the pain is radiating to the right side which is a real treat. If I can't do my yoga practice for a month I'm going to go

@sportsinjuryclinic Yeah, today it have been a week, and I feel pretty good. Now, I still feel something when I jog though. Another thing, there was no bruising appearance after the pull, so I hope for another week of healing and I will be fine. Thank you. :)

Yes, you need to have some time off completely to allow it to heal properly. Also lots of stretching, sports massage and then a gradual strengthening programme

Hamstring strengthening work is important, as is getting back to full flexibility. I wouldn't worry too much about the things you mention. They won't make much of a difference

Thank you for your insight- I took a spill while on a run a few days ago and really pulled my hamstring. It was so painful for the first 30 minutes that I had to wait for my partner to run home and get the car. I've been icing the area, taking anti-inflammatory meds. I do feel better, but it’s still a bit tender. Do you recommend foam rollers to help message the muscle?

I pulled my hamstring in track and I've but out for the past 2 weeks of the club soccer season. I can't sprint and I only have pain when I'm just sitting (it starts to throb). What can I do to recover before my tournament next weekend?

Hi, I pulled and tore my hamstring (Partial Thickness Tear and Collection of fluid showed by the scan) while sprinting. its been nearly seven weeks now and I have sprint meeting in four weeks time. I have been working on it as directed by the physio, thou i am not back on the track yet. What can i do to improve my chances for the event in four weeks time? your advice would be hugely appreciated. thanks

When i was running a 100m it was a sort of pop or snap in my back leg but i kept running. Then when basketball started. i kept playing on it. My left leg felt very weak, i could feel it getting worse each day, then I just stopped. It seems like when my leg hurts it makes my lower left back hurt, ive also been to physical therapy for my left hip flexer. What do you think?

hello two weeks ago i was playing football and i as i came to do a tackle i did a fast twisting move and my hamstring pulled.. the pain was so shocking never felt it before it was like the muscles twisted over each other. i couldnt walk normally for 3 days... i played football today in less than one minute i had to sprint as i went for it i felt a pop with some pain (couldnt walk) but it felt like the cramp i got two weeks ago was relieved and the blood was flowing through the muscle. advice ?

I had a grade 2 strain in my right hamstring about 5 years ago and since then have pulled it several times since then. Recently about a few months a go a strained it a gain after about a year of no problems with it. I tried taking time off and started playing again after about a month and pulled it again. After this I took some more time off and thought i was okay to play and ended up pulling it again. This is the third time in 3 months. What can I do so that this doesnt happen anymore?

Hello Mister Neal,
can you please give us the classification of lesions in muscles injuries,
I graduated from Physio college, and I have learned that there are 3 grades,
But when I started working doctors are giving me another type of nomenclature, like elongation, claquage, and some doctors classify it like 1- elongation 2- first degree ( few fibres touched ) 3- second degree ( many fibres are touched ) 4- third degree ( full rupture )
Thank you !

Yes we do think it is worth wearing something like this but it needs to be made of neoprene which is a heat retaining material which will help to keep the muscles more flexible and so reduce the risk of injury. Compression shorts are a good option as they will cover the entire area and not slip down when exercising
