I was given methotrexate because of my tattoo related uveitis. I also get allodynia possibly causes by small fibre neuropathy. Then I had a biopsy on my tattoos, one piece cam because with sarcoidosis. I just want my energy back and the pain of the allodynia...will methotrexate help?

Doctor, I began taking methotrexate; a rheumathologist prescribed it, of course. He's concerned my polyarthritis which at first, he believed it to be reactive arthritis because of my swollen left foot ankle, is either preliminary stages of psoriatic arthritis or ankylosiing spondylitis. I am scared and I wanted to ask whether it's ok to drink coffee while taking methotrexate. I never go above 400mg of caffeine intake on a day and I do drink more than enough water throughout the day. I will be getting methotrexate inkections for 11 more weeks. He's also instructed me to stay on Medrol 16mg, half of the pill for one more week and a quarter of the pill for another week. I hope my health condition improves. I also hope I am not dependent for the rest of my life on methotrexate. I'd truly appreciate your view. Have a nice day.

My physician had originally prescribed 15mg tablets, but said that only a portion of the tablets are digested and can cause some side effects as I asked LOTS of questions. I'm not keen on taking this and I hesitated for months, but my increasingly painful joints lead me to finally try it. Reading about the side effects online and seeing that many started with tablets and then eventually switched over to shots because of nausea, etc., I asked if I could just start with the injectable version and use less to start since it's more readily absorbed? She agreed and I've now taken four shots of .3ml (7.5mg). From your video, you indicated that I should start to feel the effects after another month or so. If I feel no change after, say, three months, does that generally mean that: this med doesn't work for me? Or that I'll potentially need to up my dosage? At what point does one determine that methotrexate simply isn't the answer to one's joint issues? Cheers for your info!
