🦋 More info below! 🦋

Today we continue our Orchid Care for beginners series with an important episode, which will address what you should do after your orchid stops blooming!

If you missed our previous tutorials, watch them here:

Flowers are not supposed to last forever on our orchid, they will naturally dry and fall, one by one. Now it's when the orchid will burst into growth, producing new leaves and roots and even grow in size.

Repotting is a must if it hasn't been done by now and water and fertilizer should be a priority! Together with these elements bright shade and shelter from direct sun, along with intermediate temperatures will make sure your orchid will grow normally and will have great chances to rebloom!

Cutting the main flower spike above a growth node, or growth bud, can promote another secondary spike with another flush of blooms! This is recommended only if the orchid is healthy and has a good root system!

This year 2023 my son gave me a orchid for mothers day. I didn't know what to do with the thing, but thank you for sharing your knowledge. Now I need to sit down and watch ALL your videos

Went to toss out our garbage and someone had placed 4 very sad looking orchids out for compost. We rehomed them, and thanks to your video series, they are not only very happy in their new pots and medium but one of them has a new set of blooms starting! Thank you so much for such an amazing video of a wealth of information for us Orchid fans.

Hey Danny, thank you so much. I am becoming the orchid guy at work. I currently have 11 rescues from teachers who receive them and then neglect them. Some of which have come straight out of the garbage. Because of your videos, my rescue success rate has gone way up. Some of my rescues have been incredibly remarkable. I have also taught some teachers how to care for their orchids and my one friend still has blooms from the plant he received in September of last year.

I just rescued an orchid from the communal trash bin where my mom lives. The blooms had fallen away, but the leaves and medium looked perfect and healthy. Thanks for your tips. 🙂

I have been given a gift of one of these orchids today and thought I would come onto Youtube to see if there is anything about looking after them! Now I feel as if I have taken on another child. I feel the pressure of responsibility to keep it alive and healthy.

I work at a grocery store and I found seven orchids that were going to be thrown away in the trash just because they had lost their flowers. I rescue them and I’m very interested in your videos to help me and their recovery

I just realized... Am I the only man here who loves orchids?! lol

I'm 28 and my friend told me that orchids are near impossible to grow so I took the challenge and I have the nicest looking orchid in the entire world. It's my keiki!

My 10 year old orchid blooms every year. I had no idea you had to repot it. Until one of the leaves started to Yellow. I went to the nursery got everything I needed it is in a beautiful new pot. I'm hoping for the best. I'm counting on you as I followed your video for newbies. I'll keep you posted.

I bought an orchid then sat down to watch your videos on how to care for them. I'm so glad I started watching your video or my orchid would have died. Two leaves, a large and a small, closest to the roots started turning brown in the center. I watched the repotting video and realized my orchid was in a pot without slits. What's more, the moss was so impacted in the roots that after I was done pulling all of the moss out, I had enough to pack my size 10 shoe. The pot is only as big around as my fist. I was amazed at the amount of moss stuffed within the roots. I so hope I can keep this orchid alive. I didn't feel I had time to wait for anything to be shipped to me, so I went somewhere in town and found stuff to repot my plant. I couldn't find a see-through cup, so I cut slits in the cup it came in.

My manager's boyfriend gave her an orchid for our office and now it's my responsibility because I know how to take care of regular houseplants, never been so stressed in my life 😂😂

My late mother loved orchids so much. She was able to grow some and took care of them til she passed away in 2014. Vanda, catleya and dendrobiums are the only ones she had and I remember pretty well how she wished to have Phalaenopsis. With this channel, I am now being inspired to fulfill that wish of her. I will try my very best to look for Phalaenopsis and give myself a chance to grow them and take good care of them. Thank you for producing educational videos such as this that help an emerging ochid lover like me to understand more about these beautiful flowering plants. God bless!

Thank you SO much for this video, it took way too long to find. I recently became an orchid parent to two orchids as condolence gifts and I am determined to do right by them even though I have zero experience. They just finished dropping their blooms and I have been all over the internet trying to find a clear guide on what to do now. They are both behaving very differently. So far everyone seems to assume a bit of starting knowledge or explains only one situation, so there seemed to be a lot of conflicting info. This video answered all the specific questions I had that I was having little luck finding answers to! I'm off to watch the rest of the series now, and thank you again. 🙏💜

My orchid has been thriving since I learned how to properly water it. Now that I’ve mastered that I gotta learn how to help them bloom again. Thank you!!!

Earlier this summer I trimmed off one of the flower spikes on mine because it was dried up, but the other one looked green stil. After following your fertilizing advice all summer it now has new roots, a new flower spike coming up and the spike I left is putting off new branches and showing signs of buds. I couldn't be happier. We bought it early last year and it stayed blooming all last winter into spring. This is the first time I've ever had an orchid produce new spikes for me. Thanks for all the info you share.

Holy crap thank you for this video, my wifes favorite flowers are orchids and we've always thought they die after a week or so from buying them "pricey" but now she can finally always have them around. I cant wait to see them rebloom.

I watched this a few months ago when my orchid was dropping it’s flowers after a couple months in bloom. I trimmed it just like you explained, and guess what?! I have new blooms about ready to open!!!! I’m so excited. I wanted to thank you for your video, and let you know that it worked wonderfully. It took a couple months for it to start branching again, but when it did, it seems to be growing the buds very quickly.

Oh my goodness. Thank you so much. My husband purchased me one for my birthday in September. My blooms just fell this week. I was so scared I was killing it. I kept moving it and watering once a week per the directions. Then I finally stopped, looked up how to care for it and found you awesome video. Thank you.
