I agree with you, most people give them too much water and too much love, most orchids are killed because of too much love but they are hardy and tough :))

I actually bought all the orchids Metro was throwing out, cleaned the roots and placed them in water. A year later they loved it and came back gorgeous full of blooms. I fertilize them (the roots) once a month.

I have a white moth orchid. I have never pruned it, just give it water every now and then, it sits in the window, it blooms beautifully every February in Dallas in late winter. I have it for 3 years now.

I found using a spray bottle rather than a watering can makes it a lot better i feel like it’s if it was to get a natural rainfall

I love your context. Thank you!
I have a question: how do you fertilize your orchids?
What method and brand do you use?
Thank you!

I was about to say that. Orchids actually thrive when they are "neglected"..

Hi, thanks for making this video. Before I go ahead and prune my orchid stem. I just wanted to check is there any specific time to do this? Ie summer time or winter time? Or does this not matter with these plants?

I inherited a couple or orchids from my mother (no flowers or stems), and they were on top of a container with water in it, so it never got thirsty. I corrected this, and have placed them near a window (little to no direct sunlight) which is cool. Our evening temps drop to 16°C.
How do I know when I need to water tbd plant?
How long with these conditions should it take for me to see new shoots?

I never fertilize what is that? I’m from the old days where we use Peet’s. Is that what you mean. Mine bloomed really nice and I squirt it with a water bottle instead of pouring water in it at the roots, if they have a gray look to it. I managed to re-bloom one that came out really nice after two years. I have a white one now along with my old one. Can you tell us had a grow From a leaf

I leave the spike and grow keikis on them.

I neglect mine and they still do not bloom. I just cut off brown leaves since they were not getting enough water. I water once every few weeks without fertilizer.
