Supplements are the forever question in fitness. What should I take to get MASSIVE? What should I avoid? Will they help my lifts? What am I missing? Truth is they are not that important, but that doesn't mean they can't be helpful, so here's the bodybuilding supplement tier list, and the 5 supplements I personally think rock.

From the thumbnail, I thought this was going to be a ranking tier list. I watch a ton of video game rankings, and as Simon is a fellow gamer geek, I thought this would be the same. Still a great video with everything broken down in layman's terms. I would, however, like to see him do an actual ranking video, perhaps comparing different brands of pre-workout, protein supps, etc. using the S to F tier scale. Of course, I know he would immediately caveat everything by mentioning that he is sponsored by Gorilla Mind (whose products are actually pretty damn good from what I've experienced so far).

Speaking from 10+ years of lifting experience and pre-workout addiction.. do NOT take stim preworkout or coffee for afternoon/evening workouts. It feels amazing at first, but even if the caffeine doesn't affect your ability to fall asleep, it WILL hinder and potentially even stop you from getting DEEP sleep.

You might not notice it for a good long time. 6 months later you'll be asking 'Why do I need a coffee at work just to focus and get through the day? I never needed coffee at work before".

Then 12 months later not only do you need coffee just to exist, but you cannot do a workout at all without a high stim pre-workout.

Caffeine for afternoon/evening workouts is a downward spiral. It might take 1, 3, 6 months, it might take 2 years, but you will decline. Your focus, your natural energy, WILL decline. You will become a slave to coffee and lose all drive to get up and do your own shit, to pave your own path. You'll be a nice well oiled cog in the 9-5 system working for the man, able to only dream of a better life, but have no drive to make it reality.

You don't need coffee, you don't need caffeine, you don't need a stim pre-workout. You can make your own pre-workout that will last a whole year, by buying pure powder of EAA's, electrolytes, citrulline, creatine, whatever non-stim compounds you want, a flavouring agent, chuck it in an old empty 5 pound tub from the protein you finished, and suck it up for a month or 2 with no caffeine, until your body begins to re-function as it was always meant to.

If you hit the rock bottom of the caffeine addiction like I did, congratulations you've fucked up your hormones. I have no idea how long it takes the body to fully recover from adrenal fatigue, but in my recent experience Pregnenolone seems to be a fucking magic pill for healing your hormonal systems and bringing focus and drive back.

If you made it this far, it might be worth researching Pregnenolone.

Good luck underdogs.

My pre-workout recipe is...

300ml Lucozade
10g Cittruline Malate
5g Creatine
4g Beta Alanine
200mg caffeine tablet if I feel I need it.

...and it's worked pretty well for me so far.

I take my Whey Protein with Unsweetened Almond Milk. Not crazy on the calories and adds that nice nutty flavor to it (about 60 calories in a 1/2 litre)

My daily supplements list is Omega 3, Vitamin B12, Creatine capsules and Vitamin D3. Every day. My dog also gets an Omega 3 capsule. It's good for their fur, bones and muscle.

My favorite protein shake while on keto is the apple pie flavor from ketochow. It's super tasty especially when made with heavy cream with only 4 grams net carbs or as low as 0.8 grams when made with other fats. My workout mornings are preworkout drink, fasted workout, then the ketochow shake as a meal replacement breakfast. I lost almost 20 lbs the first month I tried this combination.

I mix my protein powder with oats, Greek yoghurt and mixed nuts. I find it easier than glugging a thick shake
