On a hot summer day, there's nothing more comforting than relaxing in the cold A/C. But what if we told you the government says it's best to set your thermostat to 78 degrees? Sounds crazy, right? #WakeUpCLT

I prefer it at 75 during the day and 73 when sleeping but my gf likes it much colder. When I stay at her house, she has it set on 68 day and night and it freezes me out. It kills me because she wants it set at 68 but then has 4 blankets on while sleeping. I try to tell her that if you need 4 blankets to sleep with then you shouldn't need to keep the temp so damn low but she says I am the crazy one! I am just glad I'm not paying her utility bill!!!!

Set your thermostat to whatever temperature feels comfortable for you. Stop listening to these “experts” and use your judgment

No one in their right mind in Florida would ever set their thermostat to 78 degrees

I set it 60-64 during the summer (68-72 the most if I'm away for a while). For heating, 50-55 in the winter.

82 at night for sleeping is a no-go for me. In winter, I put it on 60 at night for sleeping, I like the house cold.

No no! I have my central ac set to 74 when we sleep, 76 when we're awake and home and 78 when we are away. Except when on vacation, then I keep mine at at flat 80.

Yeah no if my ac is on I want it to feel like winter when I walk in the door after working in the sun all day, 69-72

In the summer If there is no humidity I prefer 80-82. It feels like I’m sleeping on the beach. Usually though I will keep it at 73 inside in the summer and in the winter I will keep it between 75-77.

76-78 all day and night is best 24x7 during summer. Moving the temps up and down daily costs more !

68...but my house is old & not necessarily energy efficient.

I cant believe people go crazy over this...if your a/c is fully working properly and you don't have any open gaps around exterior doors or windows your house should still feel cool at 82° it doesn't mean its blowing 82° it just means it wont turn on until its 82° when it does turn on the a/c will always blow out cold about 35° to 40°
