Why Does Body-Temperature Air Feel Hot?

preview_player
Показать описание
You'd think that air that was the same temperature as your body would feel neutral, but if you've ever been outside when it's 37 degrees Celsius out... you know that's not the case!

As I've always said- it's easier to warm up when it's cold than to cool down when it's warm

First video from this channel, searched for the question, got this video as the result.

Got a clear and concise answer with no extra filler or unnecessary plugs.
Subscibing.

interesting to hear 21C is an optimal room temperature; I'm one of those folks who's always cold and I keep my own space at about 23C in the winter, wearing several layers all day. Maybe it's a surface area:volume thing but I would be shivering in jeans and a tshirt in a 21C building

In a similar vein to this, I’d love to see a video about why some people get so sweaty when they sleep, even in a cool room.

Visit India during summer time when the temperature becomes 45 degree Celsius, you will feel 37 degree C cool.

You should have mentioned, that when it's hot and humid and no breeze, you will get dehydrated very fast, even if you don't feel too hot, such as night time when there is no sun but its near 100% humidity and no wind and warm. Also, unfortunately, we have to wear clothes, which make our bodies attempt at cooling us off, even more frustrating to us and our bodies.

I wish you guys had gone more in on this explaining how it's good to keep doors and windows closed during a humid summer day or night as all that extra water being brought inside makes the heat present far more noticable.

Ok same question but different context. Why is it that we can be in 40 degree celsius water and not over heat and in fact feel quite good once we get used to the temperature.

Thanks for using sensible, metric units of measurement for temperature in this video.

18-21°C is ok for the northerners and westerners. 23°C is more like it for us eastern europeans. At least in a house without floor heating in which the temperature gradient is larger
