There absolutely is a difference. I live in Puerto Rico, right now its hot AF and its really difficult to get the cardio done because I get dehydrated and i spend the whole time I'm doing my cardio hating it and wanting it to be over. A lot of times I say i'm doing 60 minutes cardio and if I feel good I go for 90 minutes. But with the heat, trust me it will never go over the 60 minutes and there's a good chance ill do less than 60. The heat is all I can think about while working out. I HATE working out when its really hot.

I like to work out in extreme temperatures because it feels badass. I always try to work out outside in the summer and winter as much as possible. But that's more my perverse personal preference than an actual advantage.

Working out in heat sucks, I open water swim and when the ocean is 80f I swim way slower than when it's 70f.

I feel like most of the Doctors advice can be summed up as: diet and exercise with reasonably good effort in a sustainable steady manner and don’t fall for gimmicks.

I guess the real argument one can make for working out in either of the extremes (hot or cold) is that you develop the mental and physical fortitude to push through despite sub-optimal conditions.

Working out in an environment that is Optimal is all well and good, but practice working out in the sub-optimal too.
