There can be a difference of 2C (4F) depending where you measure it - oral, armpit. Read the Wikipedia page "Human body temperature" at the section "Measurement methods". Armpit and mouth may show lower temp than rectum - as low as 35.5C (95.9F). The body temperature also changes from daytime to nighttime. An early morning temperature higher than 37.3 °C (99.1 °F) or a late afternoon temperature higher than 37.7 °C (99.9 °F) is usually considered a fever.

Possibly it's not about body temperature changes but it is happenning because of the advancement in accuracy of temp measuring instruements 😂

The statement “less likely to be harboring infections” might not be correct. Bats have high ‘normal’ temperature above 40 degree Celsius, they harboring many viruses but not getting sick.
