In a nutshell:

Creatine: What It’s Not

Believe it or not, Creatine supplements have been used already by professional athletes since the 90s.

At least once, you might’ve heard someone claiming creatine as a steroid. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) hasn’t issued any ban on creatine usage ever since the years it was first introduced, since it’s not considered as a steroid.

What It Really Is

It’s actually a compound naturally found in meat and fish protein that helps all animals, humans included, to help gain muscle. Thus, boosting your workout performance without having direct anabolic effects.

It is also the first and foremost energy source that fuels phosphocreatine pathway — an energy system used for short high-intensity exercise like powerlifting and sprinting.

About 95% of your body’s creatine is stored in muscles in the form of phosphocreatine. The other 5% is found in your brain, kidneys and liver. This natural substance can be produced from two amino acids: glycine and arginine. Meaning, it’s something your body is used to getting, so you don’t have to worry about taking additional quantities of it.

It’s been a long time since it was first introduced, and among all the supplements out there, Creatine is backed by science the most. Many studies have shown that creatine is highly effective in improving your overall strength. It is well considered to be a fundamental supplement in fitness and bodybuilding industries compared to training without it. With increased overall strength, you can expect to double your lean muscle gains.

However, how to take creatine is not common knowledge. This is why not everyone can maximize its effectiveness.
How Does Creatine Work Exactly?
Creatine works by saturating the muscle with fuel to exert enough energy for continued contraction and consequently less likely for your muscles to experience fatigue.

Studies have also shown that creatine decreases muscle soreness and recovery time altogether. It does this by protecting certain cells from oxidative stress, cell death, and increase in myostatin—.protein that hinders muscle growth.

You might be wondering after hearing all that: “Is creatine too good to be true? Will there be any side effects at all when I take it every day for muscle gain?”

Young men, let me tell you creatine has been a staple in my workout regime. I'm in my 70s and I've been taking 5g of creatine every day for the last 20 years or so. I still go to the gym 6 days a week and at 5' 7". 140# I can still do 23 pull-ups (1 set) and bench almost twice my weight (1RM). 90% of men my age have lost 15-25% of their youthful muscle, but in the last 10 years I've put on 3-4 pounds of ripped muscle. I've never heard of anyone over-dosing on it because what you don't use you pee out.. It's the single most simple game-changer I would recommend and it's cheap too. Have at it boys.

I agree with Mosco. I’m 74. I train with weights every other day always seeking slight progressive overload. I have been taking creatine for about 5 years. My hair did not fall out. I could have really used creatine when I was in college playing D1 lacrosse at Maryland.

DRINK LOTS OF WATER. Creatine works by drawing water to the muscles. More water the better the outcome.

Been taking it since the 90's. 60 now and still lifting heavy. It's also being studied as an anti aging supplement. Everyone should be taking creatine

Great video, and truth. I've, been taking creatine and glutamine since they were introduced to the world, and I have been taking since. Never abusing it, and always taking breaks. I've, never experienced injury, and I recover extremely fast, and this includes bone fracture recovery and surgery. To add, I am almost 50, and I look in my twenties and still feel in my twenties. I, am still hardcore in the gym but I can work long hours in the gym and my job. So, if you want or need more testimony, I am your man. Respect n blesses.

I started taking creatine in the mid 90's while I was competing in martial arts. I was the bully of the ring. More power than others. Then I stopped taking creatine and I was very soon the one being bullied and pushed around. Started back on it and I was the bully again. It works. I'd like to add, that I don't take it with any citric acid foods/juices. Belly ache big time. Nor around coffee or other caffeine. Same thing-belly ache. If I don't drink enough water, I get leg or foot cramps. Fastest way around that is with pickle juice for me. Just not too close to creatine dose.

I donated a kindness and have been hesitant on adding Creatine back in the mix. I used it back in the 90s and loved it! Just on the fence now concerned it will put too much pressure on the one kidney trying to process it. Thoughts? I know what a doctor will say that has really no hard facts on it….

Highly appreciated, was skeptical about it before now.

As others said, drink more water when on it. Never had issues with Creatine except for cramps. Back cramps and feet cramps. They sound harmless but anyone who gets em knows. You will freak out and basically roll around until it goes away. The ah ah ah ah followed by Rolling around and hopefully nobody is around to witness it lol.

I consider myself a not so patient person so you guess right i did my loading phase. Today is my last day of loading and oh boy i lost track of time at the gym (usually ready to leave after 1 hour) at 2 hour mark. I was lifting 5 - 10 pounds above from what im used to without compromising my reps and cardio was a bliss. I did have some wierd stomach cramps yesterday but so little I would not even think is something i would pay much mind to. That is to say I’m happy that I purchased this supplement!

You can eat whole plant based foods and aid the body in producing creatine. Although all 3 amino acids that make up creatine are only found in a few plants such as edamame but arginine glycine and methionine can be found in wide array of plants which eaten together contain all 3. All nutrients derives from plants.

This stuff is amazing. Iv weight lifted for 10 years without a single supplement…..I did a loading phase with this stuff….thought it was rubbish until after the 5th day…..

Honestly cannot believe it and it’s amazing benefits in workouts….I can just keep on going and recovery time in between is amazing

Creatine summons the gym spirits to help you squeeze out a few more reps to please the iron gods. Good omen

I have been taking creatine for a month now(didn't do a loading phase) and I have seen massive improvements in my lifts. My body recovers faster than it used to before taking creatine. However, I'm also currently lean bulking(gained 2kg in this time period) and taking creatine could be supplementing my lifts.

Been taking creatine for years. It is one way to get an edge in my training and lifestyle. I mix it in my protein shake right after training. On off days I just mix it with water and take it in the morning. 💪mrwtby
