Very true! Passion is important. YouTube is a labor of love and if you don't love it you won't want to put in the labor.

My advice: JUST START ALREADY!
The only thing I regret about my channel was not starting earlier.

I definitely agree that the most important thing is just getting started. I wanted to start a youtube channel months before I did, but I found every reason to talk myself out of it. It doesn't matter how bad that first video is, you probably won't have subscribers anyway - just get started and see if you like it. You will know if it's right for you. Once you've done that, set a schedule to make yourself keep going.

I do all kinds of videos, but I think my vlogs are my most successful. I've been vlogging and making videos since 2010. Connecting with your audience and making entertaining videos is really important no matter how big or small your channel is. Vlogs can be challenging if you feel that there isn't anything to talk about. The funny thing is that 9 times out 10 there is always something to say even if you're stuck at home a lot. You could talk about your thoughts and opinions on things, family, something you bought recently, etc. I like to talk to my audience like a friend and that usually generates comments. I used to have a series where I told a short story and then asked a question at the end. The show revolved around that question. I thought of bringing it back because it was successful for one season. ^-^ I think that as long as there is a connection that it will grab the viewer first then the content will grab them second.

One thing I regret is starting late because I would have alot more videos on my channel. I find it much more productive if you upload daily or what Tim dose and upload 3 times a week the more videos you have the more search results.

great tips! another great video.
totally agree with go with a topic (something) you are interested in .. especially that you will have to keep producing videos week after week, after week, if you are not interested or not passionate in it, that would be torture(?) rather than fun ..

My best advice was already mentioned in this video and that is to be yourself. Don't worry too much about what you think people want to see. Just be you and have fun.

I agree with what a few have already said here, JUST DO IT! If you have videos made, post them. If you have a camera, film something. Test the waters out, and if you feel that you need to make a change, you can always change things around, i.e. your schedule, or tweaking a little of what your channel is about. :)

Thank you for sharing this. I have been wanting to start a YouTube channel about different things I been thru and the obstacles. Depression, domestic violence, etc... to raise awareness and to help others. I just don’t know where to start.

Treat everyone like there are your friend and communicate with the people who post comments, it makes people feel welcome and loved.

Thank you for this video. I don't know why but it gave me more punch to share my videos I didn't dare to. Thanks again.

In my experience people can tell where you've put the effort in. Simply hitting record and starting your content might not be enough. Purpose is an important thing as well. If you have a goal so the video doesn't seem endless maybe people will come and watch.

Great tips!! I've been on YouTube for 2.5 years now but still am in the kindergarten of knowing how to run a successful YouTube channel. A lot of these tips I do and have had very good success with, but I definitely want to keep working to make everything better. :)

Thank you for an awesome video! These tips i rarely hear actually. Generally im a big fan of this channel and im about to tip you on patrion. Your videos have helped me a lot the past week, where i have startet up a vlog. I really need to set a schedule soon, and maybe i have to consider the us time instead of the norwegian. I discovered that many people sleep in other countries.
