Box Breathing is an exercise often used by the military to bring a sense of calm and composure while simultaneously remaining alert. It is a very simple exercise to implement. Start by breathing in gently and slowly through your nose for 2 seconds and then hold your breath for 2 seconds.

Next, breathe out through your nose for 2 seconds and then hold your breath for 2 seconds. Finally, breathe in through your nose for 2 seconds. You shouldn't hear your breathing during this exercise.

Hi Patrick.
Firstly I would like to say Thank you very much for these informative & helpful videos.
Can I ask, as a person who has suffered all my life with anxiety & depression are there any specific breathing techniques that you would personally recommend to help alleviate, calm, relax my body & mind?

Thanks again Patrick for sharing your knowledge of breathwork.

What's the difference in using a rhythm of 2 / 5 or 8 in this box breathing technique?
