I haven't seen many videos on flexibility of ankles as they pertain to mastering the squat. I knew that when I was lifting heavy weights in my 20s.
I happen to being not so gifted naturally in flexibility and wish I had worked harder at that very thing many decades ago. But then, I'm 6'3" and all legs, as they say. I also had poor ankle flexibility making squats not my best lift, technically.
Yet still, being in athletics as I was, I realized just how key squats were to my event. Nevertheless, technique wasn't as important as the results produced. Its not like I was keying up to compete in powerlifting. I still managed to produce enough leg strength which when together with my long legs made me powerful in my event. Lesson learned, achieving a full, breaking parallel squat is great if you're a powerlifter and capable of reaching, what is a pie in the sky, for some body types ( and it should be the aim), but not essential to produce extraordinary results.
