Magnifiers all day long. Faster target acquisition. If it’s a DMR of some kind than an LPVO

I like the LPVO. One of the main reasons for that is the etched reticle while still having adjustable magnification all the way down to 1x. I can’t think of anything else you get that with. If something goes wrong with a red dot, you go from short to medium range decent accuracy to short range only unless you’ve got backup irons.
The LPVO isn’t the best at everything. It’s heavy and a little slower than a red dot because it has eye relief. However it combines reliability in the etched reticle and versatility in the magnification range.
Red dot, probably better for a short term situation. LPVO is probably better for a long term situation.

Just my thoughts.

People who say LPVO are too much weight have weak arms and should go to the gym

How well does having your rail on the top cover hold zero as opposed to on the sight block or gas block rail etc

Depends on barrel size 11” and under red dot w mag, 13” and up lpvo

I like to think of them as golf clubs. Different clubs for different shots. Short range it’s magnifier, medium range or shtf it’s lpvo or prism.

Depends on what your going for. Long range shots than LPVO. But trying to go short quick shots, magnifiers. But if your anything like me just use that always handy LAW. Come on we all have one.

Magnifiers also have a lot of bulk for an optic option, and usually have extremely poor eye relief

Granted if I had to choose between the two, I'd say red dot with magnifier all day (and just keep the magnifier flipped out of the way)

It’s just depends on what you’re doing

I have both and prefer eotech with magnifier. Although, there are applications where I might choose the LPVO. Also, eotech has a 5x magnifier that narrows the difference

My 1-6x gen2 razor isnt quite as good as a dot at being quick but its more than fast enough at close range. (See nashville school shooting) But it vastly out performs magnifiers at long range. I guess the call you have to make is whether medium to long range is your focus or super short range. The dot js gonna be better for civilian self defense and the lpvo is gonna be better for the boog.

I'm a Magnifier Guy! Most uses are going to be with 1X Power! Only rarely are you going to need to be magnified! An M4 or AR Pistol with a barrel under 16 inches, is used for CQB. Why? Because they were never meant to be sniper Rifles or long range Rifles!

I personally don’t understand running holos on a 16-18 inch barrel. I’d rather have a rifle for medium to long range and a side arm for the closer encounters. Most of us don’t have access to full auto so I don’t see a reason to make your rifle restricted to close to medium range combat. If there close enough that magnification doesn’t matter I believe that mobility is more important. And dropping primary and pulling your side arm grants you exactly that mobility. Now with all that being said I have zero combat experience. So if anyone out there can explain to me how my opinion is flawed I’m open ears

Magnifiers better for general purpose because it allows you to retain alot more awarness nd speed when it comes to closer ranged encounters or when clearing buildings while still giving you the option to see and take longer range shots in sitautions where thats caled for wherass the lpvo only does the longer range better because even at 1x zoom you have to keep a perfect eye relife and stance to use the sight and its bigger and takes more room up on your rail. A lpvo is good for a marksman whose with a group of rifleman that will never need it to be a general purpose weapon but in order to get the same abilities but sightly worse than a dot andmagnifier is by adding a canted red dot which is defeating the purpose of the 1 to 10x zoom in the first place. Lpvos will never ever be as fast or easy to use as a red dot and as soon as someone releases adjustable magnifiers which arein the works lpvos will go in the trash because the only advantage they have is the ability to go throigh multiple levels of magnifications instead of only having the 1x red dot and the 6 to 8x magnifier but not for long.

The correct solution is to replace "or" with "and".

I think they serve two different purposes and are both good options depending on the build.

LPVO with a 1x option since I have bad astigmatism in both eyes. If I didnt have it id pick magnifiers every day

Don't forget LPVO doesn't depend on electronics, it also works with good batteries, dead batteries or no batteries and is better for long-term storage.

Lpvo for hunting and magnifier for home defense

Bro this is literally my biggest dilemma right now. I’ve got a magnifier on a 14.5 but the something about an LPVO/ silencer combo goes so hard
