You want 3 different AR-15s one Geissele 14.5 with vortex razor LPVO 1-6, an 11.5 BCM with an Eotech or Aimpoint, then a 16-18 inch BCM SPR with a Nightforce NX8 2-20. And you’ll need suppressors for all of then as well😂😂 so about 15k in ARs is a good start😂😂

Considering as most of us are civilians who don’t have any combat role and have no idea when or where we will potentially be needing to use our tools I’d recommend one solid ar with optics that give you decent options. It’s fun to have a gun for everything but when it comes down to it your not lugging three rifles on your back with your pack and all of your other gear. Train and know how to implement one in multiple scenarios and your better off than lugging three around.

I have been running a 1-8x with a red dot set to 45 degrees. I am really starting to like it. Your point about dirt or dust messing up the optic isn’t an issue with the eotech you have mounted. This holographics are pretty amazing.

The best optic setup is the one you train with and the one meant for where you intend to use it. CQB? Red dots/holos, medium range? magnifier or LPVO, long range? a higher power scope, or wanting to be a fudd? just irons only and making sure to preach their superiority.

After Nashville, the LPVO Is coming back

If you can’t afford an elcan, Fixed 4x with red dot piggyback or 45 degree, whichever you prefer. That’s the best set up. I’ve used both in combat (red dot and magnifier, and elcan with dot) I tried the dot and magnifier and switched back to the elcan.

I've been enjoying my Vortex 1-6X LPVO. At 1x, the eye relief box is pretty forgiving, which was my greatest concern. So i can still quickly acquire targets at close range effectively.

So I should remove the pill box of sand bags and the M134 mounted at the top of my stairs that is in an elevated firing position if my front door is breached for an AR-15 with a Holosun and a Vortex 3x magnifier…

I’m not gonna lie, the wife isn’t too happy about the Pill Box at the top of the stairs… and the, “It’s better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it” line is wearing thin on her… 😂😂😂

Apologies for asking, but has anyone actually ever had to use an AR for home defense? That would go through drywall.

Yeah, the biggest downside to red dots and magnifiers is it is difficult to see through the magnifier and dot in the rain or fog. You sometimes have to wipe off all four lenses so you can see your target. So I go with a red dot plus magnifier on home defense set ups. For mid range or long range I use an acog or a mid power variable scope

I run a 1x6 on top with a red dot on angle. Best setup I run. Quick fast acquisition for closeup and long distance.

If I could only have 1 setup it would be G43 MAGNIFIER on UNITY FTC Mount with EXPS3 On Unity Riser and Offset Folding BUIS .
If I could have 2 Setups . The other would be TA31CH-G ACOG on UNITY COG Mount with Offset MRDS ..

These 2 setups can handle all my needs I'll ever have 556.
I shoot about one to two 2Gun matches monthly . I have 0 issues hitting reduced C Zone steel target at 300Y with My EXPS3 / 3× COMBO .
To me and for my application EXPS3 / 3× Combo is what works best for me. WROL I'm taking ACOG With offset MRDS every single time no questions asked ..
That's my 2 cents

I think the best setup is a single lower with 2 uppers. I have a SR-15 lower dedicated to a KAC CQB 11.5” with EoTech and G33 and a KAC Carbine 14.5” with Kahles K16i SM1 reticle. I keep the 11.5 upper on the lower for home defense but the 14.5 is right there ready to be snapped on in seconds should the need arise. The uppers capabilities overlap to an extent but excel at the rolls they are set up for. I train with both. I have various other ARs with different setups but that SR15 setup is mine and it covers everything I would need out to 600 yards.

I think it’s all preference these days. LPVO with a piggyback or offset dot or optic with magnifier. Both have pro’s and con’s

I prefer LPVO. To me, red dots/magnifier just don’t work with my eyes. My buddy’s dot is a little blurry to me and the magnifier only makes it worse. I run a primary arms 1-6 acss. Love it, really solid optic. My buddy got an lpvo from sig a couple months ago and hasn’t taken it off yet.

Personal preference, best to try thrm before forking out the cash. I do love an Eotech combo, but its not for everyone.

I would say train with back up iron sights first. Next train with some type of red dot or scope.

My current go too is my sig 4xt pro red dot and micro 5x magnifier. Works amazing.

Should the EoTech Be moved farther out on the rail since it is meant to be used with both eyes open for easier target acquisition?

I just built a 16” AR with an EXPS3/G33 combo. Never going back.
