I moved a pillow on my couch last week and went into a horrendous back spasm. I was on the floor for seven hours and my husband somehow got me up. Scared to death it will happen again!

Watching this while I’m laying flat on my back on my bed unable to move. Help.

Great video! I need to sort out my back spasms. This is the worst I’ve ever got it and I feel so helpless.

So I am 58 and I pretty active on weekends, but because it has been an so cold since November in my area (I am writing this in Mid March) I stopped doing my daily 1 mile way, no kayak fishing, no disc golf, no racquetball and no working in the yard. Also, recently, my job has started to get very demanding and stressful (I'm a Software Engineer) and in my personal life has gotten very, very stressful too. On top of that, I lost 10lbs and I am only eating one meal a day, and have substituting sweets for a real meal. Oh, I also slipped on the stairs and bent my knee backwards and hurt some muscle behind my knee, so when I saw this video I feel like I hit the trifecta of all the things that caused it. So one morning I work up and tried to crack my back in bed by lying on my back and rotating my hips and then I got pain!!! And from then on my back has been getting better but then I get a reminder pain spasm. I was getting sad today thinking my life as I know it is over. I am going to get fraile because I can't exercise and I'll lose muscle tone and become that unhealthy looking old person, but your video today really showed me that is happened because of everything I am going through and it is possible to get back to normal. I might try your video, but what makes me nervous about videos like that, they they will be too gentle, and maybe meant more for women. I used to being a little sore when I do exercise, but I know now that I will need to take a different approach to get back to healthy and fit. I will probably try your videos and what more videos to learn about spams. Your video made me hopeful, thank you! I'm a new subscriber and liked the video.

I've been dealing with back spasms for almost 8 years now. Happens at least once a year where I get a really bad spasm to the point where I cant walk for at least a day. Usually correlated with colder weather and less physical activity periods. The only time i avoided them long term was during my collegiate soccer season where i was at my strongest physically. Heat and rest are game changers for me for relief.

My back spasms / stabbing and sharp pain even when I was just reaching for the soap at the sink or closing a drawer - that is not an odd position and absolutely no weight being lifted. sudden and awful.

Greatly appreciate good pointed information, I’m suffering with spasms as well as a knot that is floating.

Great wee video, as someone who has experienced several bouts of debilitating back spasms over the past few years it’s so great to glean any wee snippets of information that can help during these extremely painful moments. The hardest thing I find when my back is spasming from an injury is trying to get sleep. Finding a position that doesn’t either irritate or terrify the old back is tricky even when I use pillows and supportive rolls it’s the dynamic movement of slight twists of the back while trying to get into a position is enough to set off the cascade of spasms and usually these kick in and I end up getting out of bed (ever so carefully 😂) and make my way out to the lounge for a restful night sleep on the recliner (not). For myself, I find that once my back gets so upset with one of those spasms from trying to lay down in bed it’s pretty upset and I don’t even attempt to try it again until many hours have passed. Maybe will try again tonight lol.

Awesome advice. I keep getting mid back sharp pain and spasms and it seems to happen when I’m stressed or laying down because the act of laying down scares me by reminding me that I might spasm even if I don’t, and I’m constantly on edge

This was so helpful. This happens to me in the mornings when I haven’t done any mobility exercises at the start of my day.

Yesterday, I picked up my dog and twisted my back and I heard and felt a pop. It felt as though my disc moved out of place and then popped back in. Can you explain why it felt like it popped out and then back in and why I clearly heard a loud pop at the same time? And yes it messed up my back causing some back spasms and I have been down now for 36 hours :(

I lived the nomadic lifestyle in a van for about 5 months, and routinely drove 6, 7, 8 hour days. I'm now off the road and my back is so fragile! I'm taking classes at the gym, and whenever we are on our backs doing crunches, bridges, etc, I go to stand up, and my entire lower back spasms. I'm able to walk it out after a few minutes, but I'm really hoping the core work will eventually make the area strong enough to not do that. It's pretty embarrassing in class to be acting like a 97 year old trying to get off the floor. 😄 It even happened at the dentist last week. They had my chair all the way back for 20 minutes or so, and when she put the chair upright, by back seized right up. 🫣
