10 Reasons NOT to move to Portland, Oregon.

I live in the Portland Oregon Metro area and I want to tell you about it. 3 years ago I did a video about the top 10 reasons not to move to Portland Oregon that really help launch this channel. In those 3 years, things have changed.
Not the stereotypical things like rain, cloudy skies, beer, and strip clubs.
Those will be here forever and they won’t be in this video.
Today we are going to be looking at reasons that might make you want to not move to Portland, Oregon. Riots, protests, homeless, overly sensitive people, housing cost, mass evictions, Portland has it all.
So, before you call a real estate agent and talk to a mortgage broker you should watch this video to make sure you know before you go.
And learn about a city, its people, and its geography.
The Portland, Oregon metro area and its surrounding suburbs like Beaverton, Hillsboro, Gresham, Lake Oswego, Aloha, and Tigard is one of the fastest-growing metro areas in the United States with a lot of people moving here from Idaho, California, and Montana.

As someone from Portland/Vancouver, he is being generous, the truth about Portland is MUCH WORST

Lived in Portland for twenty some years. Still have to work over there but you won't catch me anywhere except going to and from work. Everything you said in this video is 100% correct. Love living in Vancouver now. Keep Portland weird, as long as you keep it over there.

Going to Portland is like entering the Twilight Zone. Can you guess what place is off my bucket list?

Excellent video. I have a bit of a confession... I used to somewhat enjoy visiting parts of Oregon. It was a lot less crowded and expensive than, say, California's Central Coast and not as run down as parts of California's North Coast. There were some fun festivals and events in places like Ashland and Bend. But then... About ten years ago, something started to happen. Not just in California or Oregon, but in much of the USA. Things started to get kind of shitty. I was living in San Francisco at the time. There were always problems, but they started to get a LOT worse. I moved to Minnesota because I had the opportunity. It was pleasant enough, but even there, I noticed that there were problems starting to bubble up from beneath the surface. I lived in the northern Twin Cities suburbs, one of my mates lived in Minneapolis. We'd visit each other once or twice a month. It was hard to place, but social problems became more obvious, bad behaviour became more apparent. A lot of crimes which used to be concentrated in certain areas became more visible. Even if crime rates have statistically fallen, crimes have become more obvious. For the past few years, I've been dividing my time between Europe and California. I lived through the migrant crisis in Germany and saw the surge in Spain. I moved to the UK which is pleasant enough, but the standards of behaviour here have also started to plummet. Things that were beyond the pale 5, 10 years ago are now common, if not every day occurrences. Whenever flying back to California, I noticed the growth in homeless, the spread of encampments where only a year before there had been none. It's the same here in the UK. A lot of shops have shut, so more homeless simply camp out in front knowing that they're less likely to be forced to move.

I ave been moved in to Portland two years aho, and if you see my before and after pictures it looks like 10 years difference in between. I hate it so much, very depressing and stressful place to be in. I can't wait to move out soon.

I grew up just west of Portland. One of my favorite cities has gone down the tubes. I moved away 18 years ago, and it was the best thing I could have ever done.

Oregon was gorgeous when I was there 20 years ago. Portland was amazing. The homeless problem was interesting. It was my first time having to pay to use a bathroom in a fast food restaurant. We stayed in Eugene for business for 2 weeks but tge company paid for us to site see on the weekends. Lots of great beer too.

I've been wanting to move there forever and this really makes me rethink it. Liberalism is so pathetic.

Portland, the city that copies things done elsewhere, but still thinks they’re original.
The city that takes on superficial projects that look good to the outside world, but flunks lunch on recognizing the deeper impact, or manages any effective follow through.
The city to which cleaning up a homeless camp means moving the tents to the other side of the street.
The city that cleans out the grocery stores under the threat of 1/2 inch of snow. On that note, the city where people put studs on their cars (even on 4wd rigs) for 8 months, but never leave the city limits (oh, but the snow is different here!).
Good luck if you have a real issue in your neighborhood, city hall doesn’t give a rats behind.

We just moved away. We couldn’t take it anymore. My husband, a native Oregonian, finally had enough for these reasons and the year long protests, the lockdowns, the defunding of the police and the weak leadership. We’re very happy in our new home in the South.

I still kinda like driving through Oregon because it's so beautiful even though they won't let me gas up my own car or explain what a Dalles is, , , but not through Portland although there are no doubt a lot of great people there, , and that's about as snarky as I can get at 79. Thanks, Briggs.

I was born in Portland. Was around 13 when we moved to Sandy Oregon. Just a little past Gresham. Now with all the liberals I am thinking about parking an RV in the middle of the national Forest. The Democratic craziness spreads fast in Portland.

I remember the first time visiting Portland as an adult a few years ago. I'm built like a football player, 6 feet tall, 230 pounds, low fat and a lot of upper body muscle mass, dressed nicely with a Columbia jacket. I was also raised in Idaho on a ranch and just say things how they are. When I first walked into a bar in Portland it felt like the whole bar stopped. Everyone noticed me and I had a feeling that I was not welcome there. I was the perfect setting for "A mormon walks into a bar" joke even though I'm not mormon.
