Master The Perfect Push Up | How to Do a Push Up Correctly

The Push Up – It is a bodyweight exercise that we should all be able to do. And while it seems so easy, it can be a very challenging move.

Because, while the Push Up seems like it is only an upper body exercise, a Perfect Push Up works more than just your chest, shoulders and triceps – it works your entire core.

The Push Up is basically a moving plank. And for many, just holding a plank is hard enough. Yet with a Push Up, you are being asked to hold that perfect plank as you move.

To do the Perfect Push Up, everything from your shoulders to your heels must be engaged and working together.

It took me 1 year of working at it every day to do my first push up. I started with wall push ups, then girl push ups. I was really hard but it has been a life long goal. Learning how great push ups are for you and its a full body workout and my husband cheering me on with Gods strength I did it. I am still continuing to do it.

Cori, I just want to say, after studies in Pre-Physical Therapy, a certification in Massage Therapy, and a Master's Degree in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture - you lay out information on calisthenics warmp, activation, form, and strength training better than anyone I've met. So many people water down their videos that the information is not concentrated and voluminous enough that both an understanding of the topic as well as it's context is achieved. You give a lot of information in a short amount of time, and I LOVE IT. I've had a really hard time with developing an ongoing progressive calisthenics training, and from your videos (I've watched like 6-7 tonight) I believe now I know why! THANK YOU for doing what you are doing! I really appreciate you!

Thank you! After a week of doing some of the tips, I saw some improvements and i can do 5 full push ups now. 💪🏼 at the same time it is improving my running and sit ups. 🙂

Hi Cori. Excellent video and great technique. You are a terrific teacher. If would be great if you could expand a bit on hand position. I was trained to rotate my palms outward about 15 degrees when I do full extension push-ups. That hand position is very comfortable and I'm wondering how that might impact my workout doing push-ups compared to your vertical palm alignment, parallel to the body.

I'm watching your "perfect Pushup" video. MOST people aren't as observant as I am. Right away, I caught your sitting position and posture. I mastered "Full Lotus" at age 17. At age 70, I meditate every morning mixed with Tai Chi, Qigong, Aikido and of course Weight lifting until I BURN. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! 🙏☯️🪢

I feel like my upper body is too heavy and I can't push my body up, so I never do a proper push-up :((
