Doctor Fact-Checks UberFacts Tweets

UberFacts is a highly popular social media account that posts interesting “facts” across Twitter and other platforms. The problem? They almost never reveal their sources for this information. To make sure everything is on the up and up, I decided to dive into some UberFacts health tweets and research just how accurate these “facts” really are. While lots of these facts are technically “true”, there is a lot more nuance necessary to really understand a lot of them. Today I talked about whether you can actually die from a broken heart, how long it takes the average person to fall asleep, sharing DNA during kisses, cuddling dogs, the speed or a sneeze, blood alcohol levels, pentagon Viagra spending, the effects of caffeine in coffee, the smell of sweat, and the point of our hair. Any other facts you want me to verify? Post them down below!

I LOVE reading your comments and take your suggestions seriously. If there’s a subject you want me to discuss or something you’d like for me to react to, leave a comment down below. Many of my videos have been born out of suggestions directly from you, so don’t hold back!

According to a Japanese legend, if you cannot sleep at night it is because you are awake.

Maybe it's not so bad to not have your first kiss yet

Went to highschool with a guy that actually had both femurs snapped in a high speed car accident as a kid. He had permanently bent legs and a severe limp but he never let it get him down and he could still walk everywhere.

"Is there something worse than having sun burns?!?"

Yes, having an abnormal response not to have that mechanism.

"You can die from a broken heart."

Of course it's true. If you break your heart by puncturing it repeatedly with a stick, you might have some problems.

Dr. mikes videos help me sleep. Not because they are boring, but his voice is calm and the information keeps my brain sidetracked

When I was in high school I saw a doctor due to having trouble falling asleep, depression and anxiety. She asked how long it took for me to fall asleep and when I responded "2-3 hours if I'm lucky". She said that it wasn't THAT long and it was normal. It made me feel so stupid and like I was overreacting. She didn't even acknowledge the depression and anxiety. What happened? Self-harm, insecurity and even deeper depression happened and I didn't understand why I was feeling and reacting this way. She had stated I was over-reacting so I felt so bad and stupid. She sucked and I wish I could go back and tell myself to see another doctor to get help. Because She just made it worse by not taking me seriously. Nowadays when I'm not in my depressive periods I fall asleep in about 30 minutes and understand what she said was absolute horses**t

If school was this fun to watch, I’d be a straight A student.

When it comes to the "Broken heart syndrome" it makes me think of the older generation born in the 30's and 40's that have lived with their significant other their entire life. Most of them have spent 60-70 years together and once the first one dies, the other one dies within weeks or months.

Dr Mike: Do not take caffeine after lunch.

For caffeine addicts, I'd say often it is not the caffeine that is dictating your mood and alertness, but the hydration.
I used to consume heavy caffeine in the mornings, but started hydrating instead initially with squash and water.
It was never an objective to cut down on energy drinks and coffee, but I did because hydrating in the morning did more for me than caffeine did.
