This "one size fits all" computing mentality is humorous. The iPad Pro can indeed replace laptops depending on the user's needs. I'm a professional designer/illustrator and the iPP does most of my general computing and illustration tasks and eliminates the need for a laptop, and the only reason I go to my desktop for more involved work is monitor size—I wouldn't do any prolonged or time intensive tasks on any device with such small screens whether thats an iPad, MacBook, Wacom or Surface. But for some tasks like knocking out product shots/people from backgrounds and other image editing, I'll just Airdrop it to my iPad and go kick back somewhere away from my desk/office rather than firing up my 27" Cintiq... I just need a bigger Cintiq 27" like iPad/monitor that supports the Pencil.

I think people wanting a desktop experience on a tablet are missing the point. This is something that seems like 90% of tech reviewers seem to be missing. If you are a serious video editor, a touch input device is lacking even if you are running a desktop OS. Does anyone actually enjoy premier on a surface pro? Luna fusion is fine for the type of editing you would do on the go. For illustrators on the go, this is a pro device and the extra grunt goes a long way in Procreate and the Affinity apps. I would have expected a bigger outcry of musicians who make music with this and have no headphone jack.

Just like the folks who say the iPad Pro is definitely a laptop (or desktop) replacement, you make the mistake of applying your use case to everyone else. For me it is absolutely a laptop replacement. Many of us don’t just “doodle” with the Apple Pencil. There are a lot of people making their living using an iPad and either cloud storage or wireless drives. You can’t flatly state that it is or is not the only machine you need to do “proper work” because everyone works differently.

Highlight of the video: Charging your Mate20 Pro with your iPad Pro hahaha. Good review, always wait for your verdict

Tom, this is a gutsy, but so accurate review. You have boldly and justly circumvented the hype on these devices. They are beautiful, and quite magical, but when you boil down to it they are, as you say, just another ipad. I agree that iOS is both a blessing and a curse - in other words, a double edged sword. It is its simplicity and fluidity and reliability that attracts the end user. Yet Apple's fixation on certain aspects of the operating system, has hobbled it to a large extent as far as being a decent laptop replacement, as Apple woul like it to be. Apple heirarchy has become obsessed (as have many of its users) with blitzing speed. They have now succeeded in producing the sort of power most laptops can only dream of. However, they have dropped the ball in the file management and port flexibility department. Last year's A11X speed was already beastly, and was the envy of other manufacturers, and was indeed not in need of a massive boost by developing the A12X at this stage of the iPad Pro's development. When they wake up and provide the user with a decent file management system, give the iPad Pro an extra usb-c port with full external display capability, and full mouse support, I will be one of the first to buy it, despite the exorbitant price such a device would attract from Apple. Keep up the honest and incisive reviews in the meantime.

Absolutely amazing, it is worth every penny, design and tech is insane this time, this ipad should cover at least 5-6 years...

I do agree that iPad needs a real file system but I think is far more than a media consumption device. As someone who heavily uses cloud storage, I find it a fairly good productivity tool. I’d love in app mouse support and the ability to open one app (like Word) in split screen so I can work between two Word or Excel docs.

I am really happy with my 11” pro. I’m a returning college student and can do all my work on then, with a nice Kenrich keyboard. The upcoming release of iOS 13 is rumored to be revamping a files system and lots of iPad features. I think apple is reading all the criticisms loud and clear.

This will be my first iPad purchase in five years! I didn’t really care for the 10.5’ iPad Pro but I want this one (11’).

Hello ED here, and another well done video spotlighting the wasted potential of this machine. It’s too bad iOS 12 can’t keep up with the sheer raw power of this iPad. To be able to walk around with only this slim tablet, and be able to do all my work for my channel would be a dream come true!! Another stellar video my friend!

I disagree with you some people need an iPad. I am a teacher and Ipads are very necessary for us to teach because our schools are pushing us for active teaching and the iPad makes presentation so much easier. We can introduce educational games and use media in the classroom so no one is bored, especially me as a teacher. I am a new teacher and I tried to teach in the traditional way for the first term needless to say it was a bad experience for me and the students. Now, everything is easier and the students are enjoying the class and cannot wait for our games and competitions. If you are a teacher I recommend you try using the iPad in your class, introduce fun education based games, there are tons of very useful apps for teachers.

I’d argue that most people don’t need a PC any longer as a tablet does everything of what people use their PC for and cloud computing and sharing solves file sharin/management issues. The only thing you can’t quite do on an iPad is programming..

I use my Ipad Pro as a notebook for school. it's awesome. There's no other device that offer this kinda of experience. I mean Goodnotes is just the best.

The OS isn’t permanent. Hopefully iOS 13 brings in some welcome changes likewise 11 did. Rumoured that the iPad will get a completely redesigned home screen.
