Tougher than Navy SEALS? Army Special Forces Underwater Operations School
Показать описание
When the US Military needs to train its soldiers and officers for underwater combat, they’re sent to the Army Special Forces Underwater Operations School in Key West, Florida. Originally intended to give US special forces a tactical edge during the Cold War, one of its main purposes now is to host the Combat Diver Qualification Course or CDQC, a grueling 7-week training course teaching special operators how to function in underwater combat situations and participants include Army Rangers, Navy SEALs, Green Berets, and others.
During the CDQC, trainees learn skills like how to work with complex closed-circuit respirators that produce no bubbles. The most challenging part of the course is the One-Man Confidence Exam. Students enter the pool with a blackout mask to simulate night, then have their breathing equipment ripped from them, are spun and flipped by instructors, and must work to restore their respirator before they pass out. Through exercises like this one, the Underwater Operations School sorts out the top special forces and prepares them to remain calm under immense stress.
