Delta is based on SAS which makes its selection candidates do punishing solo marches with full kit over the mountains of Wales. Once they pass then their training begins.

"Do the best you can". Have to be the most demoralizing quote after a few days of suck when your body about to break down of exhaustion. I'm so glad those men are on our team.

Delta doesnt want quitters. They want someone with such a rare mentality that will do anything thats put in front of them regardless of how bad its going to suck and how long its going to take. Liberally, ZERO quit in them.

Had a family member who was in the Army special forces. He was asked to join CAG. He was one of the most physically able men i knew. Complete badass. He came back from fhe training and said those guys are a different level. Coming from an army ranger sf vetern that says a lot. CAG dudes are above seals, SF and many other special operations.

Those dudes are fuckin no joke. Some bad and scary mfs. 😅 Glad they fight for us.

Wild how multiple former Delta operators have all told the same story regarding selection, in that it was a strictly and severely solo assessment with no idea at any point if they were succeeding or failing the process. I don’t think anything else like that exists out there.

I had a friend who failed his first selection on the land navigation, not for getting lost but due to time ( the unknown variable). The second time he came through and made it he said he was running between points. Retired from Delta in ‘87.

Seals: you need a guy dead
Rangers: you need lots of guys dead
Delta: you need a guy dead and behind a wall of black ink

These guys are very humble too. The people trying out aren't random joes. They're already vetted as meeting a standard capable of trying out based on physical fitness test results and the military mental test. Basically perfect or greater physical tests and extremely high results on mental tests. The top 100 of those mixed with the most elite rangers and green berets try out twice a year. Those guys are go getters when you say go they're moving quickly. Only around the top 10 or less even make it. So yea who does is not only the most physically impressive but also very smart. I mean like Olympic level athlete and Rhodes scholar type brain. Truly Jason Bourne types. This guy Dale Comstock is one of them. You wouldn't understand what all he's really capable of and he wouldn't ever tell you. But it's a whole lot more than you can imagine.

“Just do the best you can!” The best advice anybody could give to anyone. When you try your best you usually out perform all the lazy fucks that don’t give a shit. Not always, but it works and I used to get made fun of by people being called mr perfect, I’m far from it, but I honestly tried my best and I outperformed a lot of people that were just skating through.

I was in the 101st Airborne Div, with Air Assault/Jungle Expert badges, Expert Rifle, maxed PT test every time, had done the 100 mile Nijmegen 4 day March & was an E-5 SGT.
My last week before ETS i was given a Delta Force try out invitation in my mail box, to meet at a location for a long distance compass navigation course.

I had paid into the Army college fund VEAP and decided to honorably discharge and get my Bachelors degree.

Theres no place people go to sign up for Delta, the invitation arrives in your mail box in the barracks. I assumed everone in the company had got that letter at the time.

I served in the Marines non infantry and deployed then had my own platoon before I EAS'd. I worked with various former military, like, 11b, tankers, a recon marine, warrant officers, some served in campaigns some didn't.
The only one's walking around puffed up and strutting acting like they are badass are civilians dressing like in camo and gruntstyle shirts.🤣
Those who've served, that have been there and done that are usually humble and low key. Oh, also admin or reservist act like hardasses.
