You can be special forces in the Army National Guard. You don't have to be active duty.

I worked with a Ranger in civilian life. Wickedly intelligent, not someone you want to mess around with, but being in his presence was very reassuring.

Retired US Army Trauma Surgeon (O-4), who has supported all SOF in OCONUS Afghanistan 2yrs, Syria 1yr, etc attached to 160th SOAR, 5th, & 10th. All SOF, including our Coalition partners are equally the best!!!

Now, hear me out, what if Joker in The Dark Knight was a former Delta Force solder? It would explain not only why he had zero traces of existence, but also his ability to manipulate, wildly ahead levels of planning, and interrogation techniques. That, and his experience in explosives. Doesn't necessarily mean Delta Force, but definitely a former special forces unit and went crazy after a mission gone wrong.

Every branch of the military has a different approach to basic training because they each have unique roles and responsibilities. What's toughest can be subjective, as it heavily depends on what you personally consider "tough." It's not quite about which branch has the "hardest" or "toughest, " but rather, which type of basic training is the most challenging for each individual's strengths and weaknesses.
And of course, let's not forget the biggest contributors to 'tough' training, our drill instructors, or drill sergeants; these individuals make a huge difference in the type of experience of applicants. They are toughest

If you want a fair assessment on SOF training, got to Green Beret Chronicles. He gives a fair assessment of the training of the different US SOF training courses.

Both Green Berets and Navy SEALs training programs' average dropout rate is around 80% nowhere 90 or 90+%. As for SEAL training, candidates go through underwater, scuba training during BUDS not after graduating BUDS (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL). And to be honest, there are other harder training programs, such as the Air Force special operations (CCTs & PJs).

WOW! This is so amazing. This is the reason why the soldiers are resiliant, tough, and strong. You have been taught to stand and be proud of who you are. I love 🇺🇸 🇺🇲 AMERICA. But you have to go through regorous hard work. There is so many things to do . Lots of training. I pray that they will all get through it. This is tough and hard work. AMERICA IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD. Training is brutal. And you have to go through hostile environment. Wow. This is something so real and need to be strong to survive. AMERICA THANK YOU. BLESS YOU ALL.

The minimum rank required to join the us army special forces is private first class
Every 18 branch MOS code (excluding 18A and 180A) are sergeants
You become a sergeant in the special forces. You don't need to be one to join
