TIP: This is a great breathing tutorial, but I wanted to suggest you hold one nostril closed while inhaling. This causes you to breathe in less oxygen, which will further prevent you from hyperventilating. During anxiety we tend to over breathe which causes all kinds of physical symptoms (dizziness, shakiness, palpitations, and feeling like you’re breathing through a straw). It’s a vicious cycle :( Hope this helps :)

4 second breathing helps me. Slows my heart rate. I regain control. I've only been dealing with this for a few months but the onset was extreme. I've learned to deal with this by recognizing the onset and breathing techniques. It's made a wold of difference.

You have no idea how much this helps. I lost my husband of 12 years soon after he turned 39. I was left with two small children. No family. All my friends live very far. With no real way to turn besides God, my doctor put me on bupropion for an antidepressant and now I’m sad & am experiencing anxiety attacks. I found out that medication can cause them but when I tried to stop I went to the hospital 2 times in 5 days bc you can’t quit them cold turkey. Now my doctor is trying to figure out how to get me off them but doesn’t seem to know what he’s doing. All the while I’m trapped using this medication that’s causing all of this. I felt like I was going to pass out & was thinking I had to go back to the hospital when I found this video. You will never know how much your video helped me. Thank you for taking out the time to provide this for us. Even tho I understand the technique and what to do right now it feels best when I’m doing it along with you. Calms me to hear your guidance. Past four months I’ve been suffering with severe panic disorder and GAD I’ve had to stop going to school because now I’m unable to go to school, shower, and even go 6 days without eating. I’ve had several ER trips, doctors appoiments in the past few months. I’ve been on Zoloft but I got taken off because it caused more unbearable panic attacks. After all these months of believeing I’m stuck like this forever I’ve been diagnosed with major depressive disorder too. Now I’m currently on lexapro and and quick calming/drowsy med to calm my brain down when I’m having a actual panic attack. I’m currently doing this with while on my medication

My experinced :: During panic attack focus on your stomach inhale normally but exhale bit long feel the stomach (This is my style of Belly breadthing).Then motivate yourself by saying word through mouth not in head.... Once you start saying positive your brain will connect thoes thaought with reallity and drink sip** of water slowly not loads of water Talk with someone close tell them how u faced it and overcome it...Hope it helps someone

Nose breathing is the better way of breathing for me through an anxiety attack as it stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system.
