WHAT IS CONSTIPATION?

According to NHS UK constipation is constipation is a problem with passing stool. Constipation generally means passing fewer than three stools a week or having a difficult time passing stool.

What causes CONSTIPATION?

Constipation in adults has many possible causes. Sometimes there's no obvious reason. The most common causes include:

- not eating enough fibre, which is found in fruits, vegetables and cereals
- not drinking enough fluids
- not moving enough and spending long periods sitting or lying down
- being less active and not exercising
- often ignoring the urge to go to the toilet
- changing your diet or daily routine
- a side effect of medicine
- stress, anxiety or depression

Constipation is also common during pregnancy and for 6 weeks after giving birth.

Rarely, constipation may be caused by a medical condition.

I once drank blended tomato juice as an attempt at low sugar fruit, perhaps 500ml to 1000ml. It led to diarrhea. I suspected hygiene so I tried cleaning with soap, liquid bleach! and finally boiling. Same diarrhea. At that point, it finally struck me about ion balance and Potassium was drawing water into the intestines/colon.

Nuts, Beans, Lentils, Legumes, Guava are great sources of fiber. I'm from a tropical region.

I had hirschsprung in my teens and had a colostomy and a reversal. I now use a lot of morphine and fentanyl (different condition) and it can be months before I poo and I find it affects my bladder as well. Impaction is not nice.

Can u recommend something if you are an MS sufferer and supportive medicines are indeed cause of bloating and constipation!!

Im curious tho about laxative medicine. Everytime I take 1 when im in constipation. It only takes like a hour or 2 to kick in and it realy is painful for stomach but eventually it all goes away once i finally go thats why i stopped worrying about it. Its extemly painful and annoying

What is really useful is sodium bicarbonate . Bicarbonate the baking soda and lime juice in water …. It works fairly well . I would suggest only doing 2 glasses a day one in morning one with dinner 🙏
