I’m from Connecticut and was raised in Massachusetts. I moved to Alabama and it was the best decision I have ever made the food is great the people are charming and the weather is always beautiful .. it’s not all beat down and bad like people make it seem I’m A black female and have made a lot of white friends and a lot of the older white people down here love me !! Don’t judge unless you’ve been here yourself . I live in a city in the outskirts of Birmingham called graysville 😌 it’s quiet has a lot of beautiful nature as does the whole state lol but I’m close to everything so when it’s time to have fun I’m not far from other states and cities ! No place like the south 🌸☀️✨🔥🏕

Thanks for shining a light on the good in my state. Alabama is beautiful in its wildlife, schools, parks, and its people.

Thanks for this video. The 10 worst states bothered me a little it almost was telling people to flee the south. Living in the south isn’t horrible it just has to be “your thing” and the person has to have an open mind. This place isn’t fast or bright lights but we know how to have a small town good time.

Also, a lot of people don't realize that a large portion of NASA is in Huntsville along with space camp.

Born and raised in Decatur, Alabama. This is so true. Your segment about the food was so funny because it was 100 percent spot on. You haven't had banana pudding until you have had it made by somebody's grandma in Alabama

I've got to put my vote in. Positive video productions like this are WAY better and more interesting to me than the alternatives, such as bottom ten lists. Please, keep these up. Thank you!

Nice, it finally happened! In my opinion Alabama is our most American state and is a hell of a lot better than states like New York, Illinois, and California.

As my name says, I’ve been to all 50 states and Alabama is one of my favorites. I especially love the back roads and small towns. Most of the people I’ve met are real nice. New Englanders are always making fun of it, but they are clueless and I’m sure most have never been there.

Alabama native here. One thing that is so accurate about Alabama is the food. Alabamian's center every event around the amazing food, especially the BBQ. And yes, food is always served in LARGE quantities. I think their greatest fear is running out of food at their parties.

Yes, I imagine Sand Hill Cranes legs aren't good for chicken wings... 😂😂😂😂

Yes, Alabama is close to a lot of many places that are interesting! You can take a weekend trip to many different Places! I visited Biloxi on a weekend getaway on fourth on July. It was nice and entertaining! I use to go to Atlanta and Get food, salon, and lottery! Alabama has no gambling but Tennessee state line isn't far. The jobs within skill sets are great .the people are nice and if you are rude you will be told about yourself! You will find the old things in life including trucks Coca Cola glass bottles and small gas stations that are ancient and still running so life can be simple. The LaND is beautiful and so are the horses

Lived & worked in Birmingham for the past 2 years--it's great!

Very affordable ($979/mo for a 1 BR with downtown view), lots of breweries, a whole bunch of snazzy cocktail bars, never had a commute longer than 10 minutes to work, great live music scene (or at least there was pre-March 2020), & the restaurants here will really surprise you.

Not just your cliché barbecue places, either--I'm talking about really good seafood (Hot & Hot and Automatic are both excellent), French (Bottega), pizza (Slice is kickass), and some great Indian places (Bay Leaf in Five Points!). AND there's lots of places to get outside! Vulcan Trail is great, Red Mountain Park is 15 minutes from downtown, Ruffner is 20 minutes, Oak Mountain is 25.

Critiques? Not the most walkable place--you'll need a car. Biking is very dangerous if you're not on a trail or in a bike lane. The drivers here are pretty atrocious in & around the city. There's a noticeable litter problem here, too--it's just not enforced. There are without a doubt sketchy neighborhoods I wouldn't venture to. Crime is bad in a few pockets of the city, but overall, trends have gone down in the past 5ish years.

Overall, Birmingham is worth checking it out if you're trying to escape to a Southern city that isn't named Nashville or Atlanta!

Well, Briggs, I do declare...you are evolving. I couldn't believe what I was hearing you say. You did not bash Alabama, a great Southern state! Although I'm a Texan, I had the great pleasure of living in Sweet Home Alabama for a few years.

I moved to northern Alabama this past December. I planned the move for 2 years. Did a lot of research. I love it here and I am a Jersey Girl from South Jersey.

A few things to add:
- Alabama is beautiful, and I don't even like the beaches. Covered in trees, and the Appalachians begin in the NE.
- Birmingham and Hunstville are great mid-size cities to live in that are educated, scenic (including mountains), and hip.
- Statistics paint a broad picture. Move to many cities or small towns and you will find that you can get a great public education.
