As a person born and raised in Tennessee, I would say welcome, but I've met a few people from Northern and Western states who have moved here with their screwed up thinking from their previous location. There's no way I would move to a different state and expect the people and their traditions to change to my liking.... just saying.

Eastern Tennessee is probably the prettiest and best side of Tennessee. As a resident of eastern Tennessee I can testify its a great place to live especially if u r into nature, lakes and mountains.

I moved to East Tennessee in 2016 after coming here several times for camping and motorcycle riding. I live alone, am a widower and retired in Louisiana in 2008. I managed to buy a house here for $150K and my property taxes went from $5400/yr in Shreveport to $810 in Coker Creek. My house note went from $3300/mo (30 yr note) to $880(15 yr note). I have great neighbors, live on a quiet road and can read, ride my motorcycle and walk in the mountains without driving all over to get to trails. Great place to live

After reading a lot of the comments I have to say, if you are moving to Tennessee and you want or like the city life, then Memphis, Nashville, or Knoxville would do. Memphis does have a higher crime rate though, then next in line would be Nashville. If you don't mind slowing down your busy life, then East Tennessee is where you can do that. Don't be offended by people talking about JESUS. He's a big celebrity to us here. Most of us are gun toting individuals who like to hunt, fish, and camp. A lot of people in Tennessee would give you what they had if you needed it. They work hard, respect each other, and help out when they can. We are Tennessee Strong.

Tennessee is amazing, lived here my whole life. However, if you’re moving here just remember you moved here, and don’t try to change it

As someone who lives in Tennessee it's beautiful here! Lakes and rivers, forests and fields, and huge blue mountains wherever you look, it's gorgeous here

I just moved to TN from Seattle and I have no regrets. Bought a house for SUPER cheap when homeownership was simply out reach for me in the Seattle area. TN is beautiful and has good people.

My father is from Sevierville, TN. I would LOVE to move to Tennessee. I fell in love with it. Get away from the touristy stuff and it's gorgeous country. Down home salt of the earth people. Kind. Slower paced living. RIP Steve Hurst...my father

I just want to say, when I was in the military, on my way to Ft. Sill, I drove down I40, and fell in love with this state. I never imagined I would ever get to live in this great state. However, at the ripe age of 52, I finally got the opportunity to move here. I live on top of the Cumberland Mountain Plateau, the most beautiful place in Tennessee, and the golf capital of Tennessee, in the retirement community of Fairfield Glade, about 7 miles north of Crossville. When I got here, I knew I was home! This is God's country and almost all the people here are God's people! I have lived here for 11 years, and I will NEVER leave my mountain home. This is where I will live until I die! You could not pull me off this mountain for all the money in the world!

I went on a road trip with my family and Tennessee is by far the best state we visited. It’s beautiful, the people are nice and welcoming and they know how to party; especially in Downtown Nashville. We tried the hot chicken over there. It was so good we visited the next day. I love Tennessee so much I’m planning another trip over there.

My in-laws moved there from Colorado and they love it. One of the main reasons is that were able to get a lakeside house in a reasonable price range and overall not as cold.

The tax you speak of imposed on interest/dividends has been completely phased out as of 2021 (The Hall Tax)... Tennessee is now 100% income tax free.
