This 5 Minute Yoga Nidra is a quick guided meditation to help you soothe your mind and nervous system.

Guided by Loren Runion, this yogic sleep practice uses soft rain sounds and the physiological sigh breath pattern to help you instantly activate your parasympathetic nervous system and rest your overstimulated mind and body. Then you will be gently guided through a body scan and breath awareness.

This nidra is the perfect practice for when you are busy abd need a quick reboot or you are trying to add more yoga nidra to your daily life.

Yoga nidra has tremendous benefits even in a practice that is 5 minutes in length. In this short time, you can establish a deep sense of calm, slow down your breath, and therefore slow down your mind.

Yoga nidra also known as yogic sleep is an ancient practice and state. It is a practice of non-doing, of deep rest, and of healing to come back to your true self. It is effortless and perfect for even beginner meditators or those who have struggled with meditation in the past.

💤 Helpful tips before you practice yoga nidra:
✔️You will need to be in a comfortable position. Traditionally yoga nidra is practiced lying down in savasana, but if that isn’t available to you just find a position that feels good and safe for your body. Focus on feeling supported. This could be in a side-lying position or inclined position where the head is above the heart.
✔️Have props to support your body like bed or couch pillows, a blanket, and possibly an eye covering to block out light.
✔️Affirm to yourself before starting that rest is your birthright and not something you need to earn.

I really appreciate these shorter ones where you don't have to lie down. I'm suffering from benzo withdrawal insomnia, and fall asleep if I try to listen to longer ones! They work wonders in restoring our energy and creating deep relaxation. Amazing in such a short time!

The rain sounds are amazing. Could you add some more minutes of rain at the end? So I could enjoy your 5 minute yoga nidra treatment and after that I could enjoy the effect of the practice in silence with the rain. That would be wonderful. I also enjoyed your voice a lot. I watch this 5 minute EXCELLENT video regularly at bedtime for improved sleep. Effective breathing technique. So glad that I found it. Thank you. I often fall asleep before it is finished. Voice tone is nice. Very relaxing. Suggestions lack control. (Florida)
