Car Turn Signal Blinking Fast-What It Means And Why

Many people wonder what it means when their car turn signal is blinking too fast. It means that one of your turn signal bulbs is burnt out; however, there is a scientific reason behind the fast blinking. I explain that reasoning in this video, as well as give you an analogy to clarify.

A change in resistance(eg. wrong bulb), a fault in the wiring, corroded terminals, a faulty multifunction switch, a faulty signal relay, a bad ground in any circuit can cause your signals to blink fast.

This dude is going to make a video one day explaining why you have damage to your car while recording videos while driving

Changing out stock Bulbs for newer LED's will also cause a similar pattern of behaviour in the turn signals due to their being less resistance in the electrical circuit - to resolve this you simply 'swap-out' the old relay with one designed to work with LED's; Its a real easy and cheap fix.
informative upload, thank you

Thank you! Left turn signal started blinking furiously this week. With the fed shutdown and all I don't wanna have to spend big bucks. A light bulb? (yup, left rear) We can manage that!!

Thank you for the video and your smarts. Teaching people with an analogy is the best way.

This video helped me right away I only had to watch 37 seconds of this video to figure out why my cars blinker was going fast

What if the bulb is actually blinking ? Can it be "burned out" and still blink. The front and rear signal lights on the left side both blink quickly.

I loved the info in this video. I was feeling guilty watching it though since he was so distracted while driving.

Not always a bulb. Yes, that is the first thing to try. But often, a fast flasher means something else is wrong—and your bulbs are all good. Unfortunately right now, I’m dealing with one such case—a defective flasher module.

Thank you so much! I liked and subscribed! An object hit the turn signal light frame, dislodged the bulb and blew out the other bulb next to it. We replaced them and now it works!

Great video. This is exactly what I needed to see. I'm having this same issue right now with one of my turn signals. My mechanic thinks it's a flasher or a blinker. I appreciate your spot on insight. You have a nice voice

I have a Honda Civic 2009 right signal blinking so quick and none of the light bulb is burnt-out I don't know why

Doesn’t always mean the bulb is burned out. Could also be an electrical issue somewhere else such as a malfunctioning relay in a control module or a bad ground.

This might be the case 80% of the time, but in my case my Mini blinks fast only on the right turn signal. ALL MY LIGHTS ARE WORKING. The left turn signal blinks at regular speed. And of course, this being a newer car, it no longer has a flasher relay. It has an expensive module that controls all of the lights.

Great try! I mean it, thanks for taking the time to upload video. HOWEVER, “throwing parts” at a problem is terrible advice-what if the PCM isn't sending a signal, is there a broken ground wire? etc etc etc. Study up on OHMs law. Happy troubleshooting(or lack thereof)

Saved me a trip from the stealership. I thought it was a ground or something complicated, but nah, my rear brake light (which is also a turn signal - dual filament) went bad.

On some cars like Hyundai it's actually a flasher Relay under the dashboard. Make sure all lights are working.

It sounds logical, but there is another reason as mentioned in the service manual, i.e the grounding.
