I'm a first time teacher on the first week of school and already thinking of quitting😂😂😂

I finally left after 26 years in education. I kept thinking it would get better. It didn't. Of course I had many successes, but it was at the expense of my health and sanity.

Teaching is too stressful. I was a teacher for fourteen years. I'm glad that I'm no longer in it. My mental and emotional health has improved immensely, and I don't feel stressed like I did teaching. Granted I'm not making the same amount of money, but I'm still able to pay the bills, so the tradeoff is worth it.

After factoring in the extra hours of non-paid work I figured I was only making a little over $11.00 per hour. Why put myself through all the stress for so little money. How much do you really make teaching? Factor in the extra hours of work. My time is worth more than that.

I just started my credential program this year. I have no debt, and I have a family who supports my decisions. This whole process of becoming a fully certified teacher is a nightmare. Imagine becoming a circus lion, jumping through all of the hoops, and then the ringmaster adds fire around the hoops, and then adds more rings, and then adds a time limit for completion of the jumps, and so on. After realizing how difficult this career is, and how exhausting the program is, I have a new respect for all new teachers coming in (keep in mind it wasn't always this difficult to become a teacher). For me, it is too much. I'm dropping out in a few weeks, and never looking back.

I taught high school spanish for one year. I chose not to renew my contract. So i only taught for one year. ME!!

I wouldn’t teach for even 5 years with the intent of doing something else later on. There are no new teachers coming out of college. People are not entering the profession. I strongly recommend people not enter the profession even if it is their passion. It is too self sacrificing. I would use my youth to study or do something else worthwhile. Part of the problem is people who have never been educators are deciding our curriculum and or laws that affect us in the classroom.

Man... I just loved your video. This is exactly what I feel teaching English in Brazil. I'm seriously considering doing something else with my life. I sometimes feel stuck in this negative thinking and self-pity. It's getting way harder to get in the classroom... and I feel like I'm not as bright as I used to be... I'm losing not only the passion for teaching but also my self-esteem and I know I got to do something about it. Thanks for the video. Amazing channel. It's good to know there's still something worth it to see on youtube.

i feel like most teachers love the teaching and kids, but its the admin stuff and planning they hate. it really takes up your whole life compared to a lot of jobs.

I got a MS in Physics and spent 10 years teaching in public community colleges in Southern California. It was a dismal job and the happiest day of my life was when they laid me off due to budget cutbacks from the state. I had a chance to live life as a free person and I took it, and now I'm much happier and making much more money than I did as a teacher.

I quit teaching. 5 years later, I took another teaching job. The 5 years I was out were the worst years of my life. Don’t quit unless you have a BETTER job. I quit because I hated teaching; but, when I returned I LOVED it. Sometimes it’s not teaching that’s the problem, it’s the particular school you are teaching in!

I quit teaching because my immune system got a lot worse, severe Crohn's went nuts in my mid 30s. Worked another 4 years at a desk job. Miss teaching horribly but now on full disability.
