Tbh, I also used to be a really good listener. I listen to people's stories bcos they somehow just naturally tell it to me. They'll tell me all their problems and then I just react at it, listening intently. If something about their story was sad, I'll literally cry so hard they'll just laugh there as if I was the one who owns that story. But obviously, this has lots of disadvantages. Bcos of that, nobody really listens to my stories anymore, I'll try and tell them a problem that I know I need help but they would somehow shift it to theirs so I'll just end up not saying it anymore. I got tired of listening to their stories, bcos of how exhausted I was with mine. I sometimes do listen, but not with my full attention anymore. I'm sorry, I just can't. I can feel all of their emotions which is too overwhelming for me, as a kid I never understood why I almost always feel sad when I did nothing but play. But it's bcos of those stories of the people around me.. and just.. I don't want to anymore.

i used to do this but it didn't really help, people took advantage of me and i became a people pleaser. i can't become like so again, at least not right now. i have too many mental health issues to worry about that stuff

I work with a woman who I'd consider the company hub. Everyone who meets her loves her, including myself. She's the go to person for initiating new workers and training, even though it's not a part of her job description. She is happy to do it. She doesn't talk much about herself, but she gets others to talk about themselves and she remembers the names and details of everyone's stories. She knows everyone's birthday (probably puts them on her calendar) and sends them happy birthday emails. I actually feel a little bummed when she takes off for the day.
